Of course, I am speaking of regular armies and long military campaigns. In these days of small skirmishes, a warrior often must take care of provisions on his own. For example, when serving in Knyaz Boarescu’s retinue, I never knew when I would have to fight – mostly against people who tried to put their hands on Vale Sangora’s silver mines – which meant that I always had to be prepared. My pouches would be full of something I could grab and eat whenever I had the time to do so. Some bread, a few palatschinken, an apple or two – it doesn’t take much space and preparation, but believe me: you will be glad that you have them when you suddenly find yourself in a fray and haven’t had your breakfast yet!
