History of Vale Sangora: Part One

Text

Dacian Boarescu was the first ruler of Vale Sangora to be granted the title of knyaz. His rule was benevolent and peaceful, focused on strengthening the valley, but it ended quite abruptly. In AD 1148, to respond to Pope Eugene III’s call for a crusade, a retinue of Sangoran knights was sent out to Jerusalem, led by Dacian’s eldest son – Dragomir. None of them returned. Hearing of his heir’s demise, the knyaz was stricken by a terrible affliction, becoming paralysed. He died a year later.

Tiberiu Boarescu became the new ruler. However, since he was only seven years old at the time, he quickly fell under the influence of his chief advisor, Bishop Valerian. For the next few decades, Vale Sangora was de facto ruled by the Church, with weak and indecisive Tiberiu remaining a knyaz only in name.
