The Forever Stone

Some have said everything comes from Water, which courses in our veins and feeds all that grows.
Some have said everything comes from Fire, which warms, hardens, and transforms.
Some have said everything comes from Air, which fills our lungs and sails.
Some have said everything comes from Earth, which is the blessed womb of all life.

But beyond the Four Elements we can see all around lies yet another. One cannot touch It, yet It is indestructible. One cannot hear It, yet It speaks to us. One cannot see It, but It can see us. It has many names, but none can describe It.

I simply call It The Stone, or Vrachos, like some ancients did, for It is Heaviness, It is Burden, It is Weight that drags you to the depths of evil and despair. And just like stone chips when struck, It too can be broken into Shards. But Shards are sharp and jagged. They bury easily into flesh, and corrupt It from the inside.

Do not seek the Stone, for those who find It are crushed by Its weight.
Do not fight the Stone, for those who do become It.
The Stone was, the Stone is, and forever will be.
