The Maragir Prayer Book, appendix 1

Since the Devil never rests and loves confusing us, here is a list of practices that a Christian must renounce:

Using charms or amulets – which are not the same as holy relics, mind you!
Practising fortune telling, like searching for omens in the clouds or in the bones of dead animals
Seeking help from people rumoured to be witches – they may claim they are just giving you herbs, but who knows!
Interpreting symbols you saw in your dreams – the saints have visions sent by God, yes, but the Devil often pretends to be someone he is not
Praying to the saints is fine, but never to spirits, ghosts, or other beings
Believing in necromancy and resurrecting the dead (except, of course, for the resurrection of Jesus).

There are many temptations along our way, but we must prevail – for only those who are pure will find eternal peace in Heaven.
