“The gashes were not healing at all. Instead, the wounds festered and swelled with pus. The medicus tried his best but nothing worked. For his hard work, the good doctor received a few lashes. Shame, but I heard that de Béziers was almost unable to give the command, so hoarse was his voice from screaming in pain. I smiled for the first time in many years.”
