You’re introduced to insects at the beginning of the game, as well as fishing during Chapter 5, both of which utilize a spinning wheel where you need to stop the dial on one of the notches. The catch is that each of the different animals have a differant layout where the notches, with some of the harder-to-catch ones having fewer notches. Landing on a notch with a red mark on it will net your a Rare version of that animal.
Outside of a few sidequests, the main reason you might want to get the insects and fish are because of the Jungle Hunter shop in Uptown Springdale. You can trade in the bugs and fish you catch for items, some of which are not possible to get elsewhere in the game. Some of the better items include:
- Mighty Medicine - Anglerfish (x3) and Flower Scarab (x2) OR one Rare of each
- Legendary Blade - Rare Sawtooth Stag (x2) and Rare Snakehead (x3)
- Cursed Blade - Rare Firefly Squid (x2) and Rare Locust (x3)
- Unbeatable Soul - Rare Anglerfish (x2) and Rare Rhino Beetle (x3)
- General’s Soul - Rare Dorcus Stag (x2) and Rare Marlin (x3)
Don’t forget to use the items to help you easily catch the harder-to-get animals.
