Description

Not to be confused with the more iconic Guard Scorpion, the Guard Spider is one of Shinra’s kooky insectoid robots which, in this case, can be found guarding Banora village. You can fight it again later during Mission 3-1-2.

Being large and whimsically themed apparently doesn’t count for much when it comes to offensive variety, as the Guard Spider only has three attacks; a swipe with its front two legs (deals damage and can inflict knockdown), Type-97 Cannon (a barrage of low-damage bullets from its arm-mounted guns) and EM Field (generates a field of energy around itself, hits multiple times if you’re close).

Like most machines, it takes double damage from lightning attacks. The variant you encounter in Banora drops Power Attack materia when defeated.
