Detailed Location

This quest starts immediately after you finish the "Hope's Guardian" iconHope’s Guardian season quest in Zarbinzet. Cormand will want you to meet him at the Zakarum Ruins which is situated in the !Revenants’ Roam in Hawezar. Regrettably, it will take a while to reach the location due to it being more or less in the middle of the Tree of Whispers and Backwater waypoints. Pick your poison then proceed to !Revenants’ Roam to find Cormand, and when you do, speak to him.

Follow Cormond north while defeating any monster that attempts to ruin your quiet walk in the swamp. There will be a few elite enemies along the way, so make sure you come prepared. After the short walk, you’ll end up outside the "Haunted Refuge" iconHaunted Refuge dungeon. Speak to Cormand again, and you’ll soon find out that there is a hidden door underneath the statue, but to access it, you will have to perform the “Sign of Light” near the statue.

Look at that, it worked! Unfortunately, that is only the first part of unlocking the statue, and Cormond will tell you to look for another statue nearby. This is quite well-hidden, and you may have trouble finding it at first, but if you head directly south into the green circle, the statue will be leaning against the southern side of the ruins, obscured by the nearby flora. Interact with the statue, and an entrance will open up back at the statue near Cormand. Head back to Cormond in the north to find Karamat’s Reach.

Karamat’s Reach

Follow the linear path down the stairs, and you’ll soon find Cormond battling with some "Vengeful Spirit" iconVengeful Spirits. Head over to him and help him out, or don’t, and leave him to it like he did to you earlier during your walk. Anyway, once the spirits are dead, you will have to find two gate winches to open the gate to the next room. One will be in the room to the west while the other will be in the east. When you interact with the winch, you’ll be ambushed by a bunch of spirits, defeat them and do the same in the next room, and the gate near Cormond will open.

In the next room, you’ll find the aptly named “Superior Cage” on the floor next to the upturned table with some notes scattered about in front of it. Interact with the cage, and you’ll be ambushed again by an Angry Spirit. The Angry Spirit is only an elite enemy which shouldn’t cause you any problems, just make sure you fight it inside the purple circle. Once it’s defeated, speak to Cormond again for a short scene before the quest is complete. Exit the dungeon, and make your way to Velkhova for the next quest.

In-Game Description

  • Cormond should have learned something from the documents by now. I should check on him near !Zarbinzet.

  • Cormond thinks the cages were made in the outpost of Karamat’s Reach. If we can find a stronger cage, Cormond believes it will cure his mentor. I hope he is right.

  • We have arrived at the location of Karamat’s Reach but it seems the entrance is hidden. I must work with Cormond to open the way.

  • It seems the entrance is locked by an old Zakarum ritual. Cormonds says we must perform the “Sigh of the Light” in front of the statues nearby. Why was this place sealed?

  • The ritual worked and Karamat’s Reach is open! Perhaps Cormond is right to hope… We will find out inside.
