Glider

Description

The Glider was added in Patch 1 for Sons of the Forest, which released on 9th March 2023. It can generally be found on high places such as cliff edges in the mountains, and you can use it to travel vast distances in relatively short periods of time as you glide over the landscape. You can control the glider using the keys. You can’t gain altitude with the glider, but you can increase your speed by moving forward and looking down, and you can land safely in any spot by pressing and holding .

At present, you can’t store the glider in your inventory to take with you as you explore. However, a good way of keeping track of the location where you leave it is to plant a stick in the ground next to it, then place a GPS tracker on top of the stick. You can customize the symbol associated with it so that you remember what’s there. It might also be a good idea to create a defensive wall around the spot, and a small shelter with a home icon where you can save your game whenever you pick it up.

The glider can be used most effectively by running and jumping from high places. However, it can be used from atop any towers that you construct for a quick escape. You’d be surprised how far you can travel at relatively low altitudes!
