Bettas are tropical fish that are characterized by their flamboyant colors, patterns, and fins. They have an auxiliary respiratory organ called the “Labyrinth” that enables them to live in environments with low oxygen. The males show strong aggression toward those that invade their territory, causing them to be called the “fighting fish.”
