I read your words with apprehension – meeting with the boyar himself? Alone, in the hours of darkness and in the middle of nowhere? I understand he made promises regarding your safety, but I wouldn’t put too much faith in them, if I were you. Please, take this silver cross with you – just in case. I doubt it’d be enough to strike down the devil you insist on haggling with – but it may just buy the time to escape from his claws.
