The more I learnt about the evil eye, the more I understood why no one wanted to talk to me. Nightmares, heart ache, weakness in body, even death – they could all be caused by someone having an ‘evil eye’. What’s worse is that it could mostly happen by accident, without any ill intention behind it. That is why people tended to avoid those with this particular ‘affliction’, not wanting to be reached by their dreadful gaze.

Luckily, I was able to get around this problem. Some old crone sold me a talisman that was supposed to ward anyone from the wearer’s ‘evil eye’. I could finally get some information from the locals and resume the search for my sister. However, I soon learnt that what I’d taken for superstition was in fact real. There is power in the symbol of the eye, and it can be used to curse… or even kill someone. Let me explain this in more detail…
