Chest of the Mundane
Effects/Special Abilities
The
Chest of the Mundane is a unique gilded chest endowed with magical properties that create an illusion to make its contents appear as ordinary, everyday objects.
Location / Where to Find
The
Chest of the Mundane is situated in the
Arcane Tower within the
Underdark’s southwestern region, south of the Underdark Beach. Upon entering the tower, proceed through the main entrance on the eastern wall and access the balcony through the northern doors. An Arcane check by your party will unveil the chest’s presence.
Description
The
Chest of the Mundane is a gilded chest located on the northern balcony of the main floor within the
Arcane Tower in the
Underdark region of Chapter One. Despite its appearance as a regular gilded chest, it possesses magical capabilities that make the items stored within it appear to be completely mundane objects like mugs, ladles, plates, and more. These effects can be nullified either by utilizing the anti-magic aura of a Sussur Petal or by simply removing the items from the chest.
Contents: The chest holds the
Mystra’s Grace and two scrolls.
Notes / Other Information
Upon the first interaction, the protagonist might refer to it as a “Chest of Transformation,” indicating its illusionary nature.
A glitch exists where using the chest near a Sussur Petal prevents character realization, leading to a workaround for gaining 25XP.
Another glitch, as of Patch 6, Hotfix 19, involves equipping items that have been placed in the
Chest of the Mundane, resulting in tooltip display and equipment issues.
The chest’s illusory nature raises questions whether the items are simply disguised or physically altered.
