After defeating the Man in a Suit, you will be forced into the next boss fight right away, the Man in a Hannya Mask. This is a slightly more challenging boss, especially since there’s two parts. The first part will have you using the Agent Style exclusively, but you’ll unlock the Yakuza Style for the second part. How to Beat the Man in a Hannya Mask¶
The first fight with the Hannya Mask has him with only a single health bar. You are stuck with Agent Style, so you don’t need to really worry about anything extra. Just concentrate on dodging his attacks, then getting a few hits of your own in before going back to waiting again. He has a fairly big roundhouse kick, as well as a two-hit combo that starts with an uppercut and is followed by a double-fisted overhead smash. There are also some other punching combos, one of which is three hits and quite fast, so it can be difficult to dodge.

There is one more attack to worry about in this first stage, but it should be very easy to avoid. He will rear back and begin charging up an attack, then after a few seconds, he will unleash an overhead strike. It’s easy to avoid because you know it’s coming, but you just need to know the timing of it so you can actually quickstep it. Of course, you can always just move as far away as possible from the Man while he’s charging it.
Man in a Hannya Mask Phase 2¶
Once you’ve depleted his health, he will take his mask off and the second round will begin. He will now have two health bars, so the fight will take longer. Note that you will now unlock the Yakuza Style, so when you gain control, press down on the directional pad to change to it. Your attacks may be a little slower in this style, but they are more powerful. Also, you can charge up your heavy attacks to deal even more damage. You can hold Square/X to charge up your basic attack, with Kiryu performing three strong punches in a row.

Feel free to get used to the style, especially if you’ve never played another game in the series. The Man in a Hannya Mask will now begin using his ultimate attack, so get ready for the Ultimate Counter. He seems to do this quite often and right from the beginning, so be on the lookout for it. Outside of that, a good number of his moves are mostly the same. After doing the big wind-up punch, he will follow up with a flying headbutt, so be wary of that. He can also perform a roundhouse at the end of a combo, which could catch you off-guard.
You may need to start blocking a little more during this phase, since some of the attacks do come out fast. Some of the attacks, like the roundhouse kicks, will break your guard, but he’s usually not quick enough to follow up on those. Don’t forget to use your Extreme Heat, if needed, as the Yakuza Style can be very powerful. Eventually, you will drain the rest of his life and finish the fight.
