Like a Dragon Gaiden

Kihei Hanawa Boss Guide - Like A Dragon Gaiden

By
Jarrod Garripoli

After defeating Yuki Tsuruno, you head back to Sotenbori and unlock Pocket Circuit, as well as fully unlock the Coliseum. It’s quite easy to lose yourself to the side content here, especially as you dabble with all of the Coliseum matches and recruiting characters for your Joryu Clan. At some point, you will receive a call from Hanawa, who gives you the location of their hideout. Head there and after some scenes, you’ll be forced into another boss fight, against Kihei Hanawa.

Hanawa will be the final boss of Chapter 2 of Like A Dragon Gaiden.

How to Beat Kihei Hanawa

This can be a challenging boss fight, not just because of Hanawa, but because Yoshimura is also present. The latter will have the same moveset as in his previous encounter, but you should remember he had a gun. That means he will randomly take shots at you throughout the encounter, as you concentrate on Hanawa, or even the regular enemies. Speaking of them, there are several normal foes in the fight, and you will likely want to go straight after them to thin down the herd.

Don’t forget that there are a few item littered throughout the room that you can use as weapons, although the enemies might not give you enough time to actually pick one up. After clearing out the riff-raff, you will have a choice to make, as you can either go after Hanawa or Yoshimura first. Of course, you may recall that Yoshimura likes to run away from you, but the room is quite small, and he won’t be able to stay away for too long.

(1 of 4) He will use his baton to try and melee you.

The other problem that arises is that Hanawa has stun grenades and can use them quite liberally, especially if you’re not paying attention to him. Outside of that, he has a baton for a weapon and the usual assortment of melee attacks, like any other enemy in the game. None of his melee attacks seem all too memorable, too, so just worry about the baton and stun grenade, the latter of which is the biggest problem. Going after Hanawa first might be the better option, even if Yoshimura does get a few hits in with his gun.

So, the battle is difficult because is two bosses. Once you get rid of one of them, the battle becomes a lot more manageable. Thankfully, there’s nothing else that happens when it’s just a single boss left, either so you don’t have to worry about the other boss receiving a massive power-up or anything like that.

When you’ve finally defeated both, you will be finished with the fight and Chapter 2 will come to a close after a few more scenes.
