Little Witch in the Woods

In Search For a Curious Creature

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

This page offers a guide on how to complete the In Search For a Curious Creature main quest in Little Witch in the Woods.

How to Register Specimens in your Witch’s Encyclopedia

Following your completion of ‘The Shining Tree’ main quest, you’ll be prompted to explore and fill in your codex whilst you retrace your steps back down the mountain. Once you exit the Mountain Summit back onto Green Forest Plateau, you’ll trigger another conversation between Ellie and Virgil in which you unlock the ability to sketch specimens using your quill to record them in your Witch’s Encyclopedia.

To do so, you’ll first need to equip your quill, and then approach the subject. The Blue Moon Butterflies are a little sensitive, you’ll want to maintain some distance so as not to scare it away.

It’ll take a couple of seconds of drawing before the interact wheel is completely full, but after that’s done you can open up your encyclopedia and view information on the blue moon butterfly. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to catch the butterflies just yet since you don’t have a net!

Before you exit Green Forest Plateau, you’ll be able to register Maple Herbs, which can be found hanging on vines. There is also a Witchflower that you can register in the Encyclopedia, found next to the broken bridge and also down the small ramp heading to the east.

Chasing the Mysterious White Cat

After you’ve registered and harvested the specimens, you’ll want to exit the area via the ramp you came from originally. When you enter into Green Forest Plains, you’ll be greeted by a mysterious white cat.

Ellie will want to chase the white cat.

You’ll be prompted to follow the white cat, who’s heading eastwards. After a brief chase, he’ll stop at another witch’s pattern barrier. The cat will disappear through the barrier. This time, you can’t just interact with the witch’s pattern as it’s partially rubbed away. Instead, you’ll want to pick up the white witch chalk lying right next to the sign. You’ll be able to complete the pattern and then get rid of the barrier.

Pick up the chalk and use it to complete the witch’s pattern.

Before you head through, you could take a couple of seconds to sketch the silver starbell flower to the right of the barrier.

When you pass through into the next area, you’ll come into the Witch’s Garden, which is overgrown with weeds and seemingly abandoned. The cat has also mysteriously disappeared. After knocking on the house’s door, you’ll be able to go inside and use the bed to sleep through the night until you can head back to the train in the morning.

After waking up, you’ll complete the quest, ‘In Search for a Curious Creature’ and begin the ‘To Places Anew’ quest.

The Witch’s House is a good a place as any to sleep!
