Anund and the Geats, part 1
Text
And so it came to pass that a Geatish village was afflicted with a terrible disease that weakened its inhabitants’s bones and made their breaths shallow. In search of a cure, they sent out their men into the world – none returned with a solution to their misery. But one day a one-eyed traveller named Anund came to the Geats and said to their elders: ‘It is in my power to help you. I will need horse meat, a chicken’s egg, and a cup of your finest mead.’ The elders looked at each other, confused, but still decided to provide the old man with what he had asked for.
