Note for the Neighbour

Dearest Friend,

Pray forgive me for bidding you farewell by letter, but time is of the essence. By a twist of fate, I have found occasion to exercise my persuasive charms and have convinced a young soldier to grant me passage to the border. The transport departs shortly, and when the opportunity arose, I did not hesitate – I turned back at once to fetch Lady Grimalkin.

My precious little feline shall accompany me, and together we will finally take our leave of this cursed valley. Thus, you need no longer trouble yourself with her care.

As a token of my gratitude, I invite you to help yourself to anything you desire from my attic. I harbour no intention of returning – at least, not soon.
