Vault Key Fragment Locations - Carcadia Burn

There are a lot of optional things to do in Borderlands 4, such as finding Vault Key Fragments to open up a Vault and fight a challenging boss. These key fragments are pretty hidden, but when you get close enough to one, a large circle will appear on your map, indicating a general area where you can search. To make things a little easier, too, you will have a “radar” appear on your game screen, with four little notches. As you get closer to the key fragment, the notches will fill up, basically telling you’re on the right track. This page will detail the locations of every Vault Key Fragment found in the Carcadia Burn region.

Vault Key Fragment #1

The first Vault Key Fragment is found toward the southwestern corner of this region, not too far from where you enter via The Fadefields on that side. If you have the Makeshift Chalet Safehouse, than that would be a perfect starting spot, so fast travel there. After exiting the safehouse and getting onto the main road there, head south until you see a little gas station on the side. The Vault Fragment is at that gas station, but you might have to clear some enemies first.

At the gas station, use the grapple in the front to get onto the roof.

Once you’re on top, the Vault Key Fragment is right on the table.

Once you do, go to the road and look at the front end of the station to see a grapple point. Sling yourself up, onto the roof, and look on the table up there to find your Vault Key Fragment. Note that there is also a Dead Bolt up here, as well as a Lost Capsule on the ground level.

Vault Key Fragment #2

For the second Vault Fragment, travel to The Lowrise Safehouse, found in the Tonnage Peel area of the region. West of there is the Wreck of the Cargonian location, and a little west of that will be the Wreck of the Last Great Hope location. The latter is what you need, so head there and to the southern side, which is a little southwest of the location marker on your map. You should see an opening there and will probably be greeted by some Creeps inside, so clear the area first before you start doing some investigating.

(1 of 3) Go to the southern side of the Wreck of the Last Great Hope location to find this opening.

Once all of the enemies are dead (well, there might be some others up top, but you can ignore them), search the area down here until you spot a grate you can latch onto with your grapple. It will look like it won’t move, but it disappears after a few seconds, revealing a hole in the ground. Drop down here for a small cave, which will be housing the Vault Ket Fragment.

Vault Key Fragment #3

The last Vault Fragment on this list is located in the northern end of the region, in the Ruined Swamplands area. If you have the Judgement’s Lapse Order Silo, that’s the closest fast travel point, although the Wildhorn’s Beard Safehouse isn’t that much further. If coming from the former, it’s to the north, while it’s to the west of the safehouse. Either way, you want to find both The Gunkworks and Hull’s Handbasket locations, as the Vault Fragment will be in between them both. Look for a small hill that goes down to the water, then look along the coast here for the little altar with the Vault Key Fragment sitting on it.

The third Vault Key Fragment is right next to the Hull’s Handbasket location, in this little valley area.

Drop down from the location or use the nearby hill to reach the little altar.

Arch of Radix Location

With all three Vault Key Fragments in hand, you will receive a general location for the Arch of Radix, the vault for the Primordial Guardian in this region. The Vault Entrance is found towards the northwestern corner of the Grindstone of the Worthy area of the region, and it’s probably easiest to just come from Moxxi’s Bottoms Up bar. Exit the bar to the north, then follow the road there to the west and south. When the road zips you past The Rustspires, it’ll start curving east, so continue in that direction.

You will likely cross a short bridge to reach this suspicious area.

The Vault Door is pretty much right in the center of the search circle.

You’ll eventually cross a small bridge and as soon as you do, look to your south to spot a slightly elevated area. That is where the Vault Entrance will be found, so go up to that spot to get the pedestal to spawn to place the Vault Key Fragments. Do that and you can enter the Arch of Radix to do the gauntlet, as well as fight the Primordial Guardian Radix.
