Dear Husband,
I am so proud of your promotion to Watchmaster at Eastridge. No one deserves it more than you! However, I would be lying if I said I felt only pride…
I’m worried, dear. You avoided the subject in your letter, but I know well enough what happened to the last Watchmaster and his entire watch.
I have no doubt that you will perform your duties with more sense and care. Still, I can’t help but wonder: what mistakes did they make besides dying at their post?
Forgive me. I ought to be celebrating your promotion, not bringing it down. And we shall celebrate, once you return home… soon, I hope.
The little ones miss their papa. And so do I.
