Super Mario RPG (2023)

Geno's Ultimate Weapons Locations - Super Mario RPG

By
Matt Chard

As with all party members in Super Mario RPG, Geno also has two “ultimate” weapons. One is available during the main game while the other is in the post-game. Star Gun is the name of the weapon you can obtain during the main game, however, Stella 023 is the overall ultimate weapon, and you’ll get it by defeating the Booster rematch in post-game, which is arguably the most challenging boss fight in the game. Read on to find out exactly where you can find these weapons.

Geno has two best weapons. The first is Star Gun which is found in the main game, and Stella 023 which is only available post-game.

Star Gun Location

Location Stats
Bowser’s Keep +57 Attack

You can find the Star Gun at the end of Battle Course Two in one of the six doors in "Bowser's Keep" iconBowser’s Keep. As the doors are random for everybody, you’ll need to get lucky to find it. If you enter a door, and the room you’re in is a long corridor with sets of statues, you’re halfway there. Run up to the first set of statues to start the first of twelve battles, and if the battle is against four Terra Cottas, you’re in the right room. However, if it’s Pro "Goomba" iconGoomba’s, you’re in the room for Bowser’s weapon instead. If that is the case, and you don’t want the weapon, give up by pressing Joy-Con-ButtonMinus on the controller, and you’ll end up back outside the doors. Now, try another door and see if that gives you the right room. Note, that some rooms won’t allow you to give up, and you’ll have to complete the challenge. When you do find the right challenge, complete the three rooms of battles, and the chest at the end will contain the Star Gun. You can read the best way to complete this challenge, and all the challenges in each door in our in-depth Six-Door Challenge Guide.

(1 of 2) Keep trying the six doors in Bowser’s Keep until you fight the Terra Cottas first.

Stella 023 Location

Location Stats
Booster’s Tower (Post-Game) +62 Attack

The Stella 023 isn’t available until you finish the main story. When you do, load up the clear data, and take Toad’s voucher to "Marrymore" iconMarrymore Inn where you can stay in the deluxe room for free. This will lead to a scene with Geno where you will need to head to Star Hill. Doing the events there will unlock the post-game bosses. Now, open up your world map, select Booster’s Tower, and then “top of Booster’s tower”, and you’ll find Booster. When you’re ready, walk over to him to start the battle. This is a ridiculously tough battle where Booster can annihilate your party with one attack that deals 9,999 damage to each member. However, there is a trick to this which you can read in our expert Engine 023 Booster Rematch Guide. Once you’ve defeated Booster, you’ll obtain Geno’s Stella 023 weapon.

(1 of 2) Travel to the top of Booster’s Tower in post-game to battle a much more difficult Booster.

Super Mario RPG is a wonderful and whimsical remake of the 1996 classic Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. You’ll need to assemble a group of heroes (starting with Mario of course!) to embark on a quest to repair the wish-granting Star Road! Along the way you’ll encounter enemies from the Smithy Gang, and you’ll unlock access to a whole cast of nostalgic playable characters, from Princess Peach to Geno the puppet to the adorable Mallow.

This guide includes everything you need to make your way through the Super Mario RPG remake. Whilst this game is a faithful remake of the original, the game developers, ArtePiazza, have also included some fun post-game match-ups for those who are looking for an extra challenge and a departure from the OG game! We’ve got walkthroughs for the following:
