Marauder Dungeon Locations

There are two classifications of armed, hostile ne’er-do-wells belonging to one of the six playable races in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, separated by what type of armor they wear. Marauders are the more heavily armored of the two, oppressing adventurers while clad in various grades of heavy armor, from iron and steel at lower levels up to ebony and daedric at higher levels. This page will list all the dungeons where Marauders are guaranteed to spawn, including information about Marauder Warlords and map links!

Marauder Loot and Farming

Marauders are hostile humanoid enemies that typically wear heavy armor, as opposed to their more lightly armored counterparts, Bandits. Hunting down Marauders can be very useful, as they spawn with leveled heavy armor, and while there’s a fair bit of randomization in the exact gear they will be wearing, your average Marauder may have appropriately leveled gloves, boots, leg armor and torso armor. If you want to get some heavy armor, looting slain Marauders is the cheapest way to do so, if you don’t mind RNG (or killing enough Marauders to ensure you get what you want.) Heavy armor can also be rather valuable - even mundane pieces, especially when higher-tier armor starts dropping - which makes Marauders incredibly lucrative to farm. Several types of Marauders spawn can spawn:

  • Marauders: Standard melee fighters with a one-handed weapon (shield optional) or two-handed weapon. They always have torso armor and boots, and can have more pieces of armor, but rarely helmets.
  • Marauder Archer: Bow-wielding Marauders. They have heavy torso armor and boots, as well as a dagger for melee.
  • Marauder Battlemage: Heavily armored spellcasters. They tend to have heavy torso armor, but the rest of their armor (usually boots) may be light. They cast spells from afar and carry a dagger for melee. May conjure “Bound” armor.

Some dungeons also house Marauder Warlords, a high-tier Marauder who tends to have more numerous pieces of heavy armor (including helmets - something most less Marauders won’t have), higher-tier heavy armor and even enchanted armor! While hunting lesser Marauders is good for basic gear and generating a profit, Marauder Warlords have the stuff you really want to equip, and defeating a few of these well-equipped foes can drastically increase the quality of the gear you have on hand!

Best Marauder Dungeons to Farm

There aren’t a whole lot of Marauder dungeons in the game, fewer still if you exclude ones that only have a few Marauders, other enemies diluting your Marauder-hunting, and if you want to kill Marauder Warlords. Fortunately there are two great dungeons to farm circling the Imperial City! Fort Alessia might just be our favorite farming spot in the game - simple layout, not too big, and a Marauder Warlord at the end. Fort Homestead is comparable, being a bit more intricate and less populated than Fort Alessia, but also close to the Imperial City and not too large. Fort Cedrian and Fort Wariel are a bit further afield, but also lucrative and easy enough to clear. Best of all, there aren’t any quests associated with either of these locations, so you don’t need to worry about complications later on.
