Fighters Guild Quests and Locations

Unlike some of the other factions in Oblivion, the Fighters Guild is fairly easy to join. It’s a great way to understand how guilds work in the game and how you can climb up the ranks to lead them. Here’s how you can join the Fighters Guild in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and take on quests for its members.

Look for the red banners.

Joining the Fighters Guild

Speak to Azzan, Vilena Donton, or Modryn Oreyn to join the Fighters Guild. Here’s where you can find these members:

  • Azzan: He can be found on the first floor or at his chambers on the second floor of Anvil’s Fighters Guild. It’s right past the large tree in the main gate.
  • Vilena Donton: She can be found in her chamber upstairs in Chorrol’s Fighters Guild. It’s on the northern side of the town near the roundabout with a large tree.
  • Modryn Oreyn: Find him in the Fighters Guild at Cheydinhal. Head past the west gate, turn right before the covered bridge, and go forward till you see this building.

Fighters Guild perks and bonuses

In addition to the handy sums of gold (100-600 depending on player level) you receive on beating quests, here’s why helping the Fighters Guild is worth your time:

  • You don’t have to sneak your way into their buildings to take their items. These include Skill Books and other useful items.
  • Their merchants only sell goods to members and some trainers (advanced Blade, basic Hand to Hand, Heavy Armor, and Block) only provide their services to the Fighters Guild.
  • Reach Master Rank and you will start earning a monthly salary that will be deposited in the Guildmaster’s Chest in Chorrol’s Fighters Guild. You can pick between recruitment (more items), contracts (more gold), or a balance between them.

(1 of 3) Anvil has a guild hall for Fighters.

Fighters Guild locations

While only the first three of these spots have quests for you, the other Fighters Guild locations are worth visiting to get your hands on unique loot and Skill Books. Here are all their locations:

City Location Map Marker
Anvil It can be found in the middle of town near the Mages Guild Hall. Map Marker
Cheydinhal Look for it in the western part of the city near the Mages Guild. Map Marker
Chorrol Head to the west side of Great Oak Place and you’ll spot it near the Mages Guild. Map Marker
Bravil On the east side of the main island, you’ll see it near the bridge to Castle Bravil. Map Marker
Bruma In the north side of the city, find it near the Mages Guild Hall. Map Marker
Leyawiin On the western part of Leyawiin, you can spot it near the Southern Books store. Map Marker
Skingrad Head to the northern area of Skingrad and you’ll spot it next to the Mages Guild. Map Marker

Azzan will give you your first Fighter quest.

List of Fighters Guild Quests

There are three quest givers in the Fighters Guild and you’ll be frequenting them as you wrap up the guild’s quests. Here are all of Azzan’s quests in Anvil:

  • A Rat Problem: Azzan wants you to see Arvena Thelas regarding a rat problem in her basement.
  • The Unfortunate Shopkeeper: Stop thieves from robbing a local shopkeeper.
  • Den of Thieves: A gang of Bosmer thieves has been causing problems around Anvil.
  • The Wandering Scholar: Elante of Alinor wishes to study a Daedric shrine and needs protection.
  • The Stone of St. Alessia: The Stone of St. Alessia has been stolen from the Chapel of Talos in the city of Bruma.

Clear some quests before meeting Burz.

And these are the quests that Burz go-Khash will offer you in Cheydinhal:

  • The Desolate Mine: Deliver a weapons shipment to the Desolate Mine.
  • Amelion’s Debt: Help Biene Amelion satisfy a debt by retrieving an important heirloom.
  • The Fugitives: Find and kill some fugitives that have been causing trouble near the town of Bravil.
  • The Noble’s Daughter: Find Lord Rugdumph gro-Shurgak’s missing daughter.
  • Mystery at Harlun’s Watch: Investigate the disappearance of some locals from Harlun’s Watch.

Modryn also has interesting quests for you.

Finally, Modry Oreyn in Chorrol will have these quests for you:

  • Unfinished Business: Travel to Skingrad to learn why Maglir has defaulted on a contract.
  • Drunk and Disorderly: Find out why several of your guildmates are causing trouble in Leyawiin.
  • The Master’s Son: The Fighters Guild has been hired to find Galtus Previa and Viranus Donton needs a confidence boost.
  • More Unfinished Business: Find out why a guild member has defaulted on another contract in Bravil.
  • Azani Blackheart: Help Modryn prove that the Blackwood Company lied about completing a contract to kill Azani Blackheart.
  • Trolls of Forsaken Mine: Viranus Donton and some Fighters Guild members were sent to eliminate trolls at Forsaken Mine and now you must find them.
  • Information Gathering: Bring Ajum-Kajin, a high-ranking Blackwood Company member, back to Modryn and “persuade” him to talk.
  • Infiltration: Deceive your way into the Blackwood Company and discover why they are so powerful… or so crazy.
  • The Hist: Return to Blackwood Company headquarters to destroy the source of their power and anyone who stands in your way.

Best order to finish Fighters Guild quests

Since you can’t simply finish every quest from a quest giver consecutively, we’ve prepared a helpful flowchart for you to hop between quest givers. This will let you spend less time wondering how to proceed and more time raising your skills. The yellow blocks are Azzan’s, while the blue and green ones belong to Burz go-Khash and Modry Oreyn respectively.

Use this to clean up those quests in the right order.

Getting back into the Fighters Guild

If you harm a member of the guild, you’ll need to complete the Expelled from the Fighters Guild quest to regain your position. Speak to Vilena Donton in Chorrol and she will demand 20 bear pelts to grant you entry into the guild. These can be obtained from Black Bears who roam most forests. You can also purchase them from vendors who have a large supply of bear pelts.

If you’re expelled a second time, you’ll need to get 20 Minotaur Horns. Get them from Minotaurs in the wild or the ones in the Arena. A third violation will permanently kick you out of the guild with no means of returning. That covers how you can clear all the quests of the Fighters Guild in Oblivion and why they’re worth your time.
