Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

How Does Co-op Work in Wo Long

By
Shane Williams

Wo Long Fallen Dynasty launches Friday 3rd, March 2023. As you may already know if you played any of Team Ninja’s previous games, such as Nioh & Nioh 2, this allows you to play with friends. However, some people have been asking if the player joining still gets trophies and does the progress carries over, so you can continue solo. This page will detail everything you need to know about coop in Wo Long.

You can find the Online Lobby Option by resting at Battle Flags.

How To Unlock Co-op in Wo Long

Team Ninja’s games are known for their difficulty, so a lot of the casual players choose to play them co-op to make fighting the bosses/tougher enemies a little easier. Before you can unlock co-op in Wo Long you’ll need to complete the first mission “Village of Calamity”. However, this mission features one of the more difficult bosses in the game, as it requires you to utilize all of the game’s mechanics, such as increasing the Spirit Gauge and using Deflecting, Fatal Strikes. If you’re struggling with this boss, then check out our in-depth walkthrough of the boss here: Wo Long First Boss: How To Beat Zhang Liang. Finally, rest at the first Battle Flag, then you’ll be given the tutorial on co-op.

Everything You Need To Know About Co-op in Wo Long

Does The Ally’s Progression Carry Over

So, you’ve just joined a friend and played 8+ hours to get through multiple difficult levels featuring Bosses and Tough Enemies as well as finding all the collectibles, such as Battle Flags. You may now be wondering if all the progression you’ve done will stay with you when you return to your personal game. The good news is, it does, so you don’t worry about playing one level at a time like you do in Nioh. However, if a friend that’s near the end of the game joins you at the start of the game, then their level will be scaled to your to prevent them carrying you through.

How To Invite or Join Friends

Once you’ve unlocked co-op you’ll be able to invite friends by resting at the Battle Flag, then selecting “Online Lobby”. Here you’ll be presented with three options “Recruit” and “Co-op”. Recruiting will allow you to bring in help from random players or an NPC. Alternatively, if you choose Respond then you can join someone that is requesting help. For those wanting to join a friend to play through the levels, then you’ll want to select Co-op.

If you’re setting up the lobby then you’ll want to choose “Recruit Allies”, but if you’re joining, then you’ll want to go with “Join co-op by set password”. By selecting “Recruit Allies” you’ll bring up a menu where you can give your friends an invite or you can put in a password that you’ll need to give. If you intend to play with one friend and you don’t want anyone else joining, then you’ll want to make sure you go down the password route. However, for those hosting the lobby you’ll need to use up one Tiger Seal before you can invite.

How To Get Tiger Seals

As mentioned above you’ll need to use one Tiger Seal to recruit a friend or ally to your game, then they can stay with you until you’ve finished playing. So, you may be wondering how you get hold of these Tiger Seals? Thankfully, it’s pretty easy to get tiger Seals! Tiger Seals can be found in Chests, so you’ll want to search every nook and cranny to make sure you don’t miss any. They can also be given as a drop from enemies, but this is very uncommon. Finally, you can get them as a reward for clearing a mission.
