Every Sunday Joan will appear in your town to sell turnips at prices between 90 and 110 bells. She sells them in bunches of 10 and her price remains constant all day.

Buying turnips is the best way to make money as you can sell turnips for 600 bells each if you’re lucky!

You can sell your turnips at Re-Tail by speaking to Reese. The price of turnips changes every day and each day Reese will give you one price before noon and one price after noon.

This means you’ll need to visit Re-Tail twice a day to make sure you don’t miss out on the best turnip price and work out which pattern the prices are following.

That’s all our money woes for the coming week sorted then!

There are four patterns to the prices Re-Tail will offer for your turnips.

  • Small spike : turnip prices will start decreasing but there will be five high prices before they decrease again. The fourth price is the highest and usually they are all below 200 bells so you’ll know that you can afford to hold out until the fourth price before selling.
  • Large spike : turnip prices start decreasing but there will be five high prices before they decrease again. The highest price will be the third increase and will be a high price of 300+ bells. This means you’ll know to sell at this time instead of waiting for the fourth price as you would for a small spike pattern.
  • Decreasing : turnip prices will decrease each time and never increase. Given that the increasing prices come in sets of five, you’ll know on Thursday afternoon whether or not the prices will increase. If they’re even lower on Thursday afternoon than they were in the morning, sell! Unless you know of a friend who may have a high buying price.
  • Random : turnip prices follow no pattern and your luck will determine the turnip prices. There are usually two prices over 110 bells so if you check twice a day you can afford to sell once you see the second price which is greater than 110 bells
Be careful because turnips spoil at 6am every Sunday morning. Turnips will also spoil if you travel back in time. That means that if you turn your 3DS clock back and play Animal Crossing at a time before you last played, then your turnips will spoil.

If you’re planning to travel forwards in time to get good turnip prices, remember that you won’t be able to go back to a previous turnip price as this will cause your turnips to spoil. Instead you’ll have to sell as soon as you see a price you like, or risk the turnips spoiling when you get to the next Sunday morning.
