Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Claire Farnworth

You play as Adéwalé; Kenway’s Quartermaster from the Jackdaw. The basic premise for this DLC is to liberate slaves and maroons around the Port-au-Prince area. There are numerous ways to go about this from buying slaves at auctions, to rescuing them from punishments or capture. You can also liberate slave ships where there are usually hundreds of slaves on board. Each opportunity will be listed in the side activities section, detailing how many possible slaves you can free and, where necessary, how to free them with minimal fuss.

As with the main game, Adéwale has numerous optional objectives to complete throughout the main missions and these will be listed chronologically with strategies of the best way to complete them.

Your currency, aside from Reales, is how many slaves you have freed. The more slaves you free, the more upgrades you will acquire. You will find a full list of upgrades and their requirements at the end of this guide. You can also upgrade Adé’s ship as you could with the Jackdaw. There are not as many upgrades but there are still a significant amount.

Adé himself has access to a macheté, the hidden blades, berserk and sleep darts, rope darts, smoke bombs and later the Blunderbuss and firecrackers. His fighting style is a little different to Edward’s because he only has one macheté and so it can take a lot more time to kill someone off. The blunderbuss however, can take out numerous enemies in one shot, much like a shotgun.
