The Heavy Bowgun is one of 14 weapon types in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. A much slower weapon to its lighter counterpart. This weapon comes with a heavy focus on firepower from a ranged distance, and is up there with the other ranged weapons for the strongest weapons in the game. With Sunbreak, the Heavy Bowgun will obtain new Silkbind Attacks as well as new Switch Skills which will add even more depth to its already powerful arsenal.
New Silkbind Attack: Setting Sun
This new technique for the Heavy Bowgun conjures a floating ring made of Ironsilk in front of you. When you shoot through it, the velocity of the ammo is decreased. If you use piercing or multi-hit ammo through it, the ring will boost the total number of hits upon impact.
New Switch Skill: Crouching Shot
The Crouching Shot Switch Skill changes your stance so that you’re rooted to the spot, unable to move. In exchange for this, your recoil will be reduced, and you can fire in rapid succession. Be careful not to let the gun overheat though as you won’t be able to fire again until it’s cooled down. This stance can only be used with specific ammo types.
Switch Skill Swap
This isn’t a new skill, but it is a new way to use them! The Switch Skill Swap will allow you to change your equipped skills whilst in battle. There will be two scrolls, one red, and one blue. By visiting an Item box either at the hub or in the tent during a quest, you can customize your favorite skills to each scroll.
When you’re in battle, you can swap between each set to give you access to your other skills. Another great addition to this system was the Swap Evade. This allows you to evade in any direction by pressing the roll button after you have swapped sets.
