While we wouldn’t call "Brencis" iconBrencis’s vrakhiri cabal an efficient, well-run organization free of corruption and strife, "Ambrus" iconAmbrus is at least capable of killing two birds with one stone. His primary job as boyar overseeing the northern reaches of Vallis Sangora is to collect blood tithe from the human cattle dwelling there, and if you can drain your political enemies at the same time, all the better. Naturally you’ve got plenty of reasons to intervene in these efforts - starving the vrakhiri and freeing potential allies are both key objectives in the war against Brencis, after all. This page will cover the Ambrus’s Prisoners quest Fate’s Mercy and its followup quest, "A Good Deed Is Its Own Reward" iconA Good Deed Is Its Own Reward, including details of what the Smith’s Apprentice gives you in "The Blood of Dawnwalker" iconThe Blood of Dawnwalker!

Fate’s Mercy Walkthrough

Both of the two Ambrus’s Prisoner quests can be found along the western edge of his domain, and while their exact positions vary (prisoner escorts tend to move, after all), both Lucky Crossing and its sister quest, Fate’s Mercy can be found along the same road that runs from "Svartrau City" iconSvartrau City’s northeastern gate to the “Military Camp” west of the Stoneward Post shrine. The Fate’s Mercy prisoner escort tends to be north of this fortified Military Camp, just follow the road north until you find it. Kill the three guards and the prisoners will thank you. Refrain from feasting on them (if it’s night) and when one of the prisoners offers a tangible reward for your efforts, respond however you wish - whether you feign disinterest or express your avarice, you’ll be invited to his shop in Svartrau. This ends the quest Fate’s Mercy, consuming 3 TIME and rewarding you with 250 EXP and 1x Skill Point. Claiming your reward will be covered in the followup quest A Good Deed Is Its Own Reward.

Head to Altenmarkt in Svartrau City and go up the stairs to a building on stilts in the center of the market to find the “Smith’s Apprentice”.

Talk to him to get your promised reward - some master bracers.

A Good Deed Is Its Own Reward Walkthrough

You’ve completed the prisoner escort and angered Ambrus - the thankful prisoner isn’t going anywhere, so you can feel free to ignore this quest as long as you care to. When you want to cash in, however, you’ll need to head to Altenmarkt along the northwestern edge of Svartrau City, and it must be during the day.

Head to the market and in the middle of the market square you’ll find a building on stilts. Go upstairs and you’ll find the Smith’s Apprentice who promised you a reward. Talk to him and get his back story, if you wish, then claim you reward. You’ll be given a master-quality (blue) pair of bracers, which… well, it’s something, but if you’re not keen on the rest of the rewards offered by the Fate’s Mercy quest, this probably isn’t going to change your mind.
