Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Huang Recruitment Guide

By
Jarrod Garripoli

It goes without saying that most NPCs with their own portrait are important in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. An early NPC you come across is someone named Huang in Arenside, in Grum County North. If you speak to him there near the beginning of the game, you will receive a Bamboo Rod that unlocks the ability to fish. However, it won’t be until much later that you get the chance to actually recruit Huang into your party. This will happen in Hishahn, where he will ask you to get a Wheel-Eye Bream for him.

Where to Find Huang

You can initially run into Huang in Arenside, a town found in Grum County North. You can get back there by passing through Fort Xialuke, located on the northern end of Grum County. Once you arrive in Arenside, head to the southwestern portion to find Huang, so speak to him to be given a Bamboo Rod. This will unlock fishing, but that’s not important right now in attaining Huang.

(1 of 3) You can first find Huang in Arenside, near the beginning of the game.

It isn’t until Hishahn that you will run into Huang again, where you’ll find him on the southern end. Note that if this is your first time talking with him here in Hishahn, then he will give you the fishing rod here. Speak with him here and he will mention about joining you, but you must do something first. That will be to catch a Wheel-Eye Bream, as that fish is said to bring good luck.

Wheel-Eye Bream Location

You will be able to fish for a Wheel-Eye Bream from a specific fishing spot in the Euchrisse region. The only catch is that it’s not a traditional spot, like the others, so it may be a little difficult to find. Starting as Hishahn, follow the road east and continue past the one that goes south. At the next intersection, venture southeast and you will arrive at the Seaside Cavern. The enemies here can be a bit more challenging than normal, so don’t go inside.

Instead, look southwest a little bit on your map to see two little pieces of land jutting out to the southwest and southeast. The southeastern one is the one you want, with the fishing spot being at the bottom tip of it. The reason it’s difficult to find is that there’s no dock here, so you just need to happen upon it by accident. That’s the easy part done, though, as catching the Bream might take you a good while. There are quite a few fish at this spot, so you never know what you’ll catch and it’s not uncommon to empty the place without getting your target.

(1 of 4) You will run into Huang a second time in Hishahn.

Should this happen, then you can simply wait right there on the map (not in a menu) and the fish should respawn in around 10 minutes or so, real-time. If you’re feeling a little more daring, you can head inside the Seaside Cavern and make your way deep into the dungeon. There is another hidden fishing spot by the Iron Ore deposit not far from the little shack near the end. This spot seems to have a tiny bit higher chance to yield the Wheel-Eye Bream, but you would have to battle through a dungeon to reach it, so the other spot is easier to access.

It might take a while, or you might get it on your first set, but once you have the Wheel-Eye Bream, return to Huang to finally recruit him to the Alliance.
