Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Pagurian Boss Guide

By
Shane Williams

Pagurian will challenge you during the Hishahn Old Town Dungeon that you access as part of the Reveal Harlan’s Schemes! quest in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. On this page, we’ll provide you with the necessary tips to deal with the gimmicks and take them down.

Pagurian awaits!

Pagurian Boss Strategy

The Pagurian has 3841 HP on Normal Difficulty and has a few attacks that can deal AoE (Area of Effect) against your party, but you can make the battle relatively easy by utilizing the gimmick. At the start of the battle, you’ll want to have everyone in the party focus on one of the Young Pagurians and then when both of them have been defeated the main boss will temporarily fall onto its back. At this stage, it’ll be weakened and unable to attack so you’ll want to use this opportunity to deal as much damage as possible.

It has a shield so you’ll want to remove it by using attacks such as Chain Smash (Nowa) and Take That! (Carrie), and then you can start hitting it with any available Hero Combos and Rune-Lens. It is weak to Earth Spells which comes from the Rune of Earth and Rune of Stone (which you’re unlikely to have at this stage), so you’ll want to hit the boss with Rock Thrust to deal maximum damage. Pagurian can summon the Young Pagurians multiple times throughout the battle and you’ll want to keep focusing on taking them down first in order to keep the advantage.

(1 of 3) Offering of Ice will cause a rainfall of ice.

If you don’t stun Pagurian via the gimmick then it’ll be able to throw some attacks back at you such as Offering of Ice which will cause blocks of ice to rain down from the sky, Eddy Upon Eddy that triggers a tornado, and Tidal Pearl which allows Pagurian to throw a ball of water towards you. All of these attacks will deal AoE damage to the party, so you’ll want to make sure you heal up by using Francesca or Carrie’s healing spells.

Pagurian Boss Reward

Defeating Pagurian will reward you with the Rune of Currents and this can be used to recruit Code L, who can be found in the Rune shop in Daphan Village. Recruiting him will allow you to build your own Rune Shop back at the Headquarters. Additionally, if you equip the rune of currents then you’ll gain access to level three and four water magic.

A spiritual successor to the Suikoden series, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a classic JRPG that gives you the opportunity to recruit over 100 characters throughout your journey. Nowa, a boy from a small village, travels to the city to become a member of the Watch, only to be suckered into a plot to stop an empire from utilizing Rune-Lenses to expand their power and reach.
