Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Momo Recruitment Guide

By
Shane Williams

There are 120 recruitable characters in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and they are typically obtained naturally throughout the main story, but some will require you to seek them out on your own. There are some that even require you to do something extra, which is the case with Momo. He needs your assistance to deal with a fiend that’s lurking in The Seaside Cavern.

The Cutest one of them all Momo joins the alliance!

Momo Location

If you want to recruit Momo then you’ll need to progress through the main quest Revenant Army Returns and then revisit Hishahn (Euchrisse) and head to the southernmost point of town to trigger a scene with him. You’ll now find yourself in The Seaside Cavern dungeon which you’ll need to work your way through before you can face the Kraken.

The Seaside Cavern Chests

The Seaside Cavern is one of the shorter dungeons in Eiyuden Chronicle, but there is still seven chests up for grabs and you can find out what they contain below:

Finding The Kraken

You’ll want to follow the linear path ahead until you reach a fork in the path and then dart across to the east to find a chest that contains a Mint Chocolate Ice Cream Recipe, then continue following the path ahead while grabbing any chests that are dotted along the way for the Unknown Pocket-Watch, Faded Book, Chapter 6, and 2,500 Baqua.

When you reach the next fork in the path, head north and grab the Blue Symbol from the chest and then backtrack and take the southern path. Enter the storage area and grab the chest at the end of the path for the Lucky Badge, then continue north and wait for Momo to break the barrier, allowing you to challenge the Kraken!

Kraken Boss Strategy

The Kraken has 10,510 HP on Normal Difficulty so you’ll want to rely on the gimmick to deal the majority of your damage. Focus on using the Harpoon Gun as frequently as possible, which is done by having one of your teammates “open the floodgates” to make it become available. At this point, you’ll want to have a magic user “load the harpoon gun” and then you can fire it in the next round to deal 600 Damage.

(1 of 2) Rampage can deal AoE damage.

Rampage can deal AoE damage. (left), Shocking Tentacle can put paralysis on your team. (right)

You’ll want to repeat this process while having everyone else use basic attacks until they have enough SP to use Hero Combos, as this will deal massive damage to one enemy. However, when you get the Kraken down to half HP, it’ll place its tentacles on the lever which opens the floodgates, so you’ll want to have everyone use the “tentacle grab” gimmick to remove it and then continue as you were.

It’ll now start using some attacks such as Shocking Tentacle which involves it slapping you with its electrified tentacle and placing the paralysis status effect on some of your party, causing them to be unusable for the next few rounds. Rampage, meanwhile, will see it performing a 360 and dealing AoE (Area of Effect) damage, so you’ll want to perform a group heal afterwards. Once you’ve defeated the Kraken, return to its lair and grab the Rune of SP from the chest!
