There are 120 recruitable characters in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and they are typically obtained naturally throughout the main story, but some will require you to seek them out on your own. There are some that even require you to do something extra, which is the case with Squash. He will ask you to find him a Sparklestone which can be found in the Dappled Forest.

Where to find Squash¶

You’ll need to progress through the story until you reach the main quest Euchrisse, the Land of Water before you’re able to recruit Squash. This will require you to complete the Proving Grounds dungeon which is fairly complicated as you’ll have to rotate to floors in order to find all chests, so you may want to follow our The Proving Grounds to reduce the chances of missing anything. With the dungeon out of the way, you’ll want to visit Hishahn and recruit Carrie which can be done by following the steps on our Unlocking Fast Travel page. Fast travel to the Treefolk Village and speak with Squash who can be found near the top.

Sparklestone Location¶

He won’t be all that interested in joining the alliance, but he can be persuaded by giving him a Sparklestone. This can be dropped by Phantombirds and Red Wyverns in the second area of the Dappled Forest, but there is only a 5% chance for it to drop so you may need to spend a while farming these enemies. These should go down relatively easily at this stage of the game, but you’ll still want to make sure your health doesn’t drop too low while farming.

However, if you have the Lucky Badge (found in a Chest in the Seaside Cavern) in your possession then you can increase the chances of this item dropping which should make the process a little quicker. Once you’ve acquired the Sparklestone, return and give it to Squash to bring him onto the team, then you’ll be able to build the Accessory Shop back at the HQ. This will allow you to purchase the latest accessories at this stage of the game from the Trading House.
