Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Fishing System Explained

By
Jessica Dillon

One of the many side activities in Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes is the ability to fish. This is an activity that you must unlock by acquiring a fishing rod. Catching fish is a great way to get food for cooking, and fishing is an easy system to master. The guide below goes over where to get the Bamboo Fishing Rod and how to capture your first few fish.

Fishing is a side activity.

How to Fish

Fishing is a simple task that requires you to find an applicable fishing spot. They will be marked with a fishing rod on the world map. Each location has a different variety of fish, and catching them is simple. Simply interact with the spot and then you will cast your line. Once the bobber is pulled under the water, press the interact button again to catch your fish. There is no mini-game to play, just good timing. A fish may tap your bobber a few times before pulling it under but be warned that pressing the interact button too soon will make you lose your catch.

(1 of 3) You can find fishing spots marked around the map.

Harder-to-catch fish will pull your bobber under immediately, causing you to immediately have to press the button to catch them. There doesn’t seem to be a limit to the number of fish you can catch in one spot, so go ahead and fish to your heart’s content. There are three different fishing rods in the game and each one increases how easily you can catch fish and the rarity of them.

Where to Get the Fishing Rod in Grum County

You can start fishing after you have completed the Barrow’s Investigation. At this point in the game, you will be set free to explore Grum County. After exiting Eltisweiss, you will find a fishing spot to your right, but won’t be able to use it as you are missing a fishing rod. To get the fishing rod, head to Fort Xialuke in the northern portion of the map. Here, you will encounter Yusuke and can then travel to Grum County-North, where the game began. Once in there, head to the only village on the right side of the map, Arenside.

(1 of 3) Head to the Arenside in Grum County-North.

Head across the bridge in the center of town and then take a left and keep going forward until you head down some stone stairs, from here go south across a second wooden bridge, and you will see a man with long hair in a yukata standing next to the river, Huang. Speak with him and he will give you the game’s first fishing rod, the Bamboo Rod. You’ll have to wait some time before you’ll be able to enlist the services of Huang.
