Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

CoD MW3 System Requirements

By
Craig Robinson

Call of Duty Modern Warfare III’s System Requirements were revealed by Activision prior to the game’s full campaign launch. For the most part, the system requirements are not changing with the transition of MW2 to MW3, since the game will still feature most of the same moving parts, not to mention Warzone 2’s continuation. However, there is some more news for players who are looking for more accurate system performance information with more enthusiast-tier PC parts. Here’s a closer look at the MW3 System Requirements and whether you can run it or not.

A look at the MW3 System Requirements and what you should expect for the best performance on your PC and in-game advantages. Image via Activision.

As mentioned, not much is really changing over from the MW2 to MW3 System requirements. For the most part, the settings are still the same for minimum and recommended. However, there are some additional tiers to help you get a better understanding of how your PC parts will run.

Part Minimum - Multiplayer Minimum- Campaign Recommended Competitive
GPU GTX 960/1650 or AMD Equivalent X 1080 Ti/3060 or AMD equivalent.
OS Windows 10 64 BIT X Windows 11 X
CPU I3-6100 / Ryzen 3 1200 I5-6600 / Ryzen 5 1400 I7-6700K or Ryzen 5 1600X
RAM 8 GB X 16 GB X
Assets Cache 32 GB X X X
Video Memory 2 GB X 8 GB 10GB
Storage Type SSD X X X
Disk Space 79GB or 34GB with CoD HQ 149GB or 78 GB with CoD HQ X X

As you can see, there are some slight differences with the minimum specs. It’s likely the campaign levels have more processing to do with larger maps, AI involvement, scripted events and other shenanigans to come. So, having that slight edge will make it more bearable on the minimum settings. Meanwhile, the developers are now defining differences between the more professional rigs looking for as much visual fidelity and higher, consistent frame rates to really push that experience or performance metrics.

Performance is going to be a big factor in MW3 too. The changes to higher health and less regeneration, along with faster movement, improved slide canceling and Tac-Stance while sliding, means there are more offensive options while moving. Because of these changes, stacking up, having more accurate frame counts, fewer frame skips, and better performance will give you a better fighting chance. We plan on doing the best settings at some point to assist players with getting the best visual and performance settings out of their system to ensure you can make the most out of your system and still have stable performance.
