Trinkets are special items you can equip, in Mina the Hollower, that have all sorts of special effects. Some allow you to get extra power out of your stats, while others give you abilities, like an air dash or allowing you to burrow along walls. It goes without saying that Trinkets are very important, then, but when you begin the game, you only have a single slot for the accessories. In order to get more slots, you’ll have to find Trinket Bag Upgrades in the wild. Some are simple, like simply purchasing them, but others might be a little more hidden. This page will detail where to find all of the Trinket Bag upgrades in the game.
You can buy three Trinket Bags from the one shop in Ossex.
Trinket Bags 1-3¶
The easiest ones to obtain are those in the Emporium shop in Ossex, which becomes available after defeating Thorne in the prologue of the game. This shop sells all manner of upgrades, but other than the Spark Container, the Trinket Bags should probably be the first purchase. The first one will cost a hefty 1,500 Bones, with the second one being increased to 3,000 Bones and the third one costing a whopping 5,000 Bones.
Trinket Bag 4¶
After completing your first dungeon and repairing the first Spark Tower, you can head over to get this Trinket Bag. If you’re in Ossex, you want to go to the High Street section on the eastern side and exit there. If the first Spark Tower you did was in Queensbury Crypt, then you go just west of the bridge with the spike barrier in the center to arrive at the same entrance as mentioned above. Once you reach this screen, you will encounter a boss named Maxi.
You will fight someone named Maxi here after completing your first Spark Tower.
Defeat him and he’ll drop the Trinket Bag upgrade for you.
This boss can be a little bit of a nuisance, since he likes to move around quite a bit. Some of his attacks can be tricky, too, since his whip has a longer range than normal, and he likes to throw Volt Hatchets like you can. The best times to attack Maxi is whenever he uses the axes or the shotgun-like attack, as he will stay still for a second or so. Defeat Maxi and your reward will be the Trinket Bag.
Trinket Bag 5¶
The last Trinket Bag is found in the Astral Orrery, although it’s a bit tricky to get it right away. Before heading there, make sure you have the Keri the Wisp Trinket, as it will be needed, and a Kear for the lock. To get to this region, you simply need to find any mirror and walk into it, until you get transported to the place. While you can do this at Radiant Manor at the beginning of the game, you won’t be able to get to the Trinket Bag. The first opportunity, assuming you’re going through the recommended order of Spark Towers, is once you reach Queensbury Crypt. If you fully explore the place, then you should be able to come across the mirror there naturally.
To find the mirror, progress through the Crypt until you reach the spot with two headless statues and you have to go both left and right to find said heads. There is a spot you can burrow under to the left of the one statue, where you can purchase some things from Belvedere. In there, you can also see a room on the right, so burrow under the wall on that side in the main hallway to access the mirror. Just walk straight into it to transport yourself to arrive in Astral Orrery. When you first arrive, hit the gear thing in the middle of the small room you’re in to make the blue-colored tiles appear throughout the place.
That’s about all you’ll need here, other than something like the Keri the Wisp Trinket. Go into the main section in the middle, with the large enemy that you should probably avoid, and head towards the western side. Use the burrow jump and floating from the above Trinket to make your way to the ledge with the Trinket Bag.
