The answer to the question is no. Don’t worry about an emotional moment with the cat, as the cat is fine.

However, the cat can die during the missions you play. The Zurks will begin to eat the cat over time, eventually dying it when your screen goes too red. If you catch it quick enough, you’ll see the cat flop to the sides incredibly fast as a very basic death animation. The same is said if you get caught by the Sentinel enemies, which appear during the Midtown and Jail chapters of the game. If you are finding that you are dying in-game, feel free to check out our Zurk and Sentinel tips and tricks pages.

So technically, the cat can die in Stray. However, it is not lore-related deaths. So don’t worry too much about it having to break down and cry over our ginger friend. But, keep the tissues to the side just in case per the emotional story in the game.
