This is a guide for the first area in Bills Town in The Last of Us: Part 1. It’ll navigate you through the necessary steps to finding the Melee Upgrade Recipe, Bow and getting through The Woods.

How To Enter The Town of Lincoln Water Storage Facility¶
Once you’ve reached the woods follow the path along to the right to find some Supplements x5 sitting by a tree, then walk a few steps forward and look to the right to find a Blade x1, a Rag x1 and some Alcohol x1 near the sewage pipe. Continue following the path around and head up the hill until you reach the Town of Lincoln Water Storage Facility.

Unfortunately the gate is locked so you’ll need to find another way inside. Follow the path around to the left and pick up the wooden plank, then place it against the opposite side. Climb up on to the roof of the building and pick up the plank again, then place it so it bridges the gap between you and the building that leads into the facility.
Where To Find The Melee Upgrade Recipe¶
Drop down and head over to the right to find a Blade x1 and a Rag x1 sitting on a wooden plank, then go down the hill and drop down again. Collect the Melee Upgrade Recipe from the floor next to the tyres, then crouch and walk down the stairs and take out the Clicker with a Shiv or Brick. Collect the Blade x1 and Rag x1 from inside the shed.

Enter the building opposite and head upstairs to find some Supplements x5 from the chair in the hallway, then look inside the office to find Pills Note on the floor and some Binding x1, Blade x1 and Handgun Ammo scattered around the room. Exit the building and drop down, then you’ll find a locked door that requires a Shiv to open. Inside you’ll some Alcohol x1, Rifle Ammo x3, Parts x10 and Supplements x15.
Where To Find The Woods Optional Conversation¶
Exit the room and boost Ellie over the fence to unlock the gate, then follow the path a long to the left to reach a flower shop. Here you can find some Supplements x10, Blades x1, Binding x1 and Parts x8. After you’ve grabbed everything, head back out into the street and go past the police car, then take the stairs up on the left to find Parts x7 on the floor.
Drop back down and enter the house, then speak with Ellie near the arcade game ‘The Turning’ to engage in an optional conversation. Finally, look inside the Kitchen to find a Blade x1.
What is The Woods Safe Code¶
Head back on to the street and you’ll find a safe near a red pickup truck which you’ll get the code for shortly. For now climb up on to the roof of the camper to find the Firefly Pendant- Hui Wang - 197, then enter the Marquis Music Store and search all three rooms to to find Binding x3, Rag x1, Parts x10 and the Perimeter Note.

Exit the store and head to the end of the path to find the Note To Bob attached to the blockade. This contains the combination for the safe, so return to it and input the code 5-17-21 to collect Parts x50, Rifle Ammo x3, and Supplements x10. From here, head into the alley to the left of the record store and you’ll find a Rag x1, Binding x1 and some Alcohol x1.
Where To Find The Bow¶
Head up the nearby stairs and unlock the door with a Shiv, then inside you’ll find Supplements x15, Blade x1, Alcohol x1, Binding x1 and Parts x25. Exit the room and head down the street to find Arrow x2 sticking out from a corpse, then place the nearby ladder against the truck and climb up to obtain the Bow.

Walk across the wooden plank and wait for Ellie, then pick it up and place it against the wall before climbing up. Once you’re up, grab the plank and place it at the edge to bridge the gap. Head over to the other building you’ll see a Clicker in the distance, so pull out your Bow and aim it so the first top line is slightly above the head to get an easy headshot.
Climb on to the other roof and drop down on the opposite side, then crouch underneath the tripwire. Head into the room on the left and head upstairs, and look inside the room for the Note to Rachel and then look in the toilet for Supplements x5 before leaving. Once you’re back outside pickup a nearby brick and throw it at the tripwires blocking the gate to cause it to explode.

Head through and pick up the Revolver Ammo x8 from the corpse, then pickup another brick or bottle and throw it at the trap up ahead. Go into the room around the corner and collect Revolver Ammo x8 from the desk, then open the door!
How To Survive The Woods Trap¶
You’ll be caught in one of Bills Traps and you’ll need to take out a wave of Clickers and Runners whilst Ellie attempts to free you, so simply try to aim for headshots and avoid missing your shots the best you can. If you do get caught continuously press

Eventually, Ellie will fall down and start getting attacked, so make sure to take care of those enemies first. Once you’re free follow Bill and enter the building, then take out the Clickers and Runners coming through the door. Finally, pick up the Alcohol x1 and a Rag x1, then The Woods portion of Bills Town is completed.
