Heavy Bolter: Tricks, Tips, and Locations
Iconoclast Choices and Abilities
Many games these days don’t give you the full product at launch anymore, and while bug fixes and free extra content may not be objectionable in light of modern game complexity and market conditions, placing some content behind a paywall arguably bears closer scrutiny. One of the boons listed when purchasing the Deluxe Pack for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader includes exclusive weapons - namely the Blast Wave shotgun, the Wrath of Saint Drusus chainsword and Heirloom
Autopistol. This page will cover how to find these weapons and what they do in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader.

Search south of the Rogue Trader’s desk in the Lord Captain’s Quarters to find the “Goods” crate. This contains your Deluxe Pack weapons.
Where to Find the Deluxe Pack Weapons¶
Complete the prologue and you’ll find yourself on the bridge of your brand new (millennia-old, battle-damaged) voidship! Okay, it’s a fixer-upper with a lot of mileage and some skeletons in the closet (almost certainly literally), but it’s valuable and it’s yours. With your inheritance comes some swanky side perks, like your own private cabin! Find the Lord Captain’s Quarters by exiting the Voidship Bridge to the west and find Theodora’s - now your - desk in the center-east of the level, and south of this desk you can find a “Good” crate. Open it and you’ll find the three Deluxe Pack weapons: the Blast Wave shotgun, the Wrath of Saint Drusus chainsword and Heirloom Autopistol.
As should be expected from DLC content, these weapons are balanced for the early-game. If you’ve already completed Act 1, they’re probably going to be obsolete, and they certainly won’t remain competitive throughout Act 2. That said, they can prove somewhat useful early on, and as such they will be covered below:
The Blast Wave shotgun is basically just an ordinary shotgun with better knockback.
Blast Wave¶
A shotgun with fairly standard stats, comparable in almost every way to your standard
Shotgun - Blast Wave has the same damage, attack type, range, rate of fire and armor penetration. The only real difference is that Blast Wave will knock enemies back 3 cells even if the shot misses, as opposed to pretty much every other shotgun, which only applies knockback when shot at effective range (half of its maximum range). It is, at best, marginally better than the weakest shotguns you will find in the game.
The Heirloom Autopistol is an upgrade over the standard Autopistol, featuring higher stats and some bonus attributes.
Heirloom Autopistol¶
Unlike the Blast Wave, this weapon is actually a statistical upgrade over the standard Autopistol, featuring more damage and better armor penetration. The Heirloom Autopistol also can be wielded as if the equipping character has the “Dual-Weapon Combat” talent and gives its wielder +5
Perception and +5
Ballistic Skill. All in all, not a terrible sidearm, and
Abelard will probably make good use of it, at least for a while.
The Wrath of Saint Drusus deals more damage and armor penetration than standard Chainswords, but sacrifices an AoE “Cleave” attack for a linger debuff it afflicts.
Wrath of Saint Drusus¶
Quite possibly the most interesting Deluxe Pack weapon, this chainsword has a significant damage boost of your standard
Chainsword (8-12 instead of 7-9). It also has higher armor penetration and while it sacrifices its “Cleave” attack, it causes struck foes to take 15% more damage from all sources until the end of combat. If you don’t find yourself doing many AoE attacks with melee weapons, the damage boost can certainly be appreciated. Even if you relegate this weapon to an off-hand slot or alternate weapon slot just to tag nasty enemies with its debuff, it’ll probably stand the test of time longer than the other Deluxe Pack weapons.
All in all, these Deluxe Pack weapons aren’t that useful, and certainly not worth paying for. Note that the Deluxe Edition comes with the Deluxe Pack and the base game, while the Voidfarer Edition comes with the base game, the Deluxe Pack, the Season Pass (including the Void Shadows and Lex Imperialis DLCs).
