Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader

Koronus Expanse Resource Locations

By
Matt Chard

When you reach chapter two in Rogue Trader, access to the Koronus Expanse becomes available. Here, you will travel to different systems which each host numerous planets and each planet can be scanned. Scanning planets will yield various resources that are needed later on to upgrade your countless colonies. Each of these colonies has projects that require different resources. Obtaining the resources will require you to extract them by using an Extractium which can often be difficult to come by, especially at the beginning of the game, so you will want to make sure you’re not wasting them on materials that you don’t need right now. Read on to find out where to find every resource in the game, and what systems you can find them on.

The Koronus Expanse is a large map with a lot of places that you can extract resources from.

Getting Around the Koronus Expanse

Navigating around the Koronus Expanse isn’t the easiest thing to do in the Warhammer universe due to the dangers of the Warp. This is why each ship requires a skillful Navigator to make exploration less perilous. Even with one on the ship, you’re not guaranteed you’ll get through unscathed, but you do have ways to circumvent it. This can be done by making your routes less dangerous. When you chart new routes, you’ll obtain points of “Navigator’s Insight”. This handy resource allows you to make the route you’ll be traveling less risky.

You see, there are four different types of routes you can use when exploring the Expanse, and these are color-coded with green, yellow, orange, and red. Each of these colors determines how dangerous the route will be, with green having no risk, and red being deadly. Here, you can use your Navigator’s Insight to reduce the chances of something bad occurring during your warps. Green is guaranteed to be safe, yellow has a small chance of ship damage, or a warp encounter on the voidship with orange further increasing these odds. Finally, red is seen as deadly, and can even cause a game over, so you should always make a save before attempting this. You can read more about this in our Navigator’s Insight and Charting Routes guide.

Where to Get Extractiums in Rogue Trader

Early on, you’ll be limited on Extractiums until you progress further in the game. In general, you’ll acquire Extractiums from various sources around the Expanse. One good source for them is the aptly named Explorators faction, which will sell these hard-to-obtain pieces of equipment, but you’ll need at least 35 Profit Factor to purchase them. Other places to find them are by scanning planets, completing quests, errands, and story missions. Finally, you can pick up an already-used Extractium, and reuse it elsewhere. For a list of locations where you can acquire Extractiums, visit our Extractiums Locations Guide.

The places inside the brackets are the world that the materials can be found in, for example, burning is a burning world. Note, that you can obtain resources from other side activities, but this is purely for what you mine with the Extractium.
