Metaphor: ReFantazio

Metaphor: ReFantazio Warrior

By
Echo Apsey

The Warrior is one of the basic Archetypes in Metaphor: ReFantazio. It is one of the team’s starting Archetypes, given to you during the opening events of the game in Grand Trad. The Archetype is built around powerful physical damage attacks on a single target, lacking in magic resistance and spells. It is weak to Wind damage, but highly resistant to Fire.

Investment in the Warrior Lineages allows you to unlock its improved Adept and Elite forms: Swordmaster and Samurai. Compared to other Archetype classes early on, the Warrior is a little more specalised and may not be your go to at the beginning of the game. Many of the other Archetypes like the Mage and Seeker have more immediate and noticeable benefits.

How to unlock the Warrior Archetype

The Warrior class is unlocked upon reaching Rank 1 with Strohl’s bond. This happens as a part of the story in the Nord Mines early on in the game. After you defeat Klinger, Strohl’s power will awaken and you can then talk to More to unlock the class for your other party members.

If you do want to purchase the Warrior Archetype for your other classes, you will need to spend a little bit of MAG to be able to unlock study it in Akademeia.

Strohl becomes a party member and you can customize his Archetype not long after you can customize your own.

Warrior Skills

The Warrior has access to five different Skills:

  • Diagonal Slash - Deals weak physical Slash damage to one enemy to one enemy (5 MP) [Unlocked by default]
  • Heat Up - [Passive] Increases physical skill attack by 10%. Attack increases further if archetypes of the same Lineage are present [Unlocked at Rank 3]
  • Slicer - Deals weak physical Slash damage to one enemy 2-4 times [Unlocked at Rank 8]
  • Critical Strike - Low hit rate, but all hits deal critical physical Slash damage [Unlocked at Rank 13]
  • Slash Boost - [Passive] Increases slash attack by 20% [Unlocked at Rank 20]

A lot of these Skills being passivse, makes your options limited with this basic form of the Lineage. But, the Slash attacks are particularly strong against many enemies in Grand Trad and the surrounding area, who can often be resistant to several different elemental affinities.

Warrior Sythesis Skills

As with the basic attacks, the Warrior’s Synthesis Skills are also rather limited. The Warrior has only 3 Synthesis Skills:

  • Round Slash - Deals weak physical Slash damage to all enemies (14 MP) [Allies needed: Knight, Healer, or Commander Lineages]
  • Bamboo Splitter - Deals heavy physical Slash damage to one enemy. Adds one turn icon on a killing blow (6 MP) [Allies needed: Warrior, Brawler, or Berserker Lineages]
  • Peerless Stonecleaver - Deals severe physical Slash damage to one enemy. Adds one turn icon on a killing blow. (22 MP) [Allies needed: Warrior, Thief, or Masked Dancer Lineages (first ally) and Warrior, Brawler, or Berserker Lineages (Second ally)]

These skills are rather limited compared to other Archetype Lineages, however they are incredibly powerful. Peerless Stonecleaver especially is one you may want to make use of for its sever Slash damage and ability to add an extra turn upon a kill. Few basic Lineage skills compare with its strength.
