Metaphor: ReFantazio

Treebeast Alento Boss Fight

By
Jarrod Garripoli

You will fight plenty of bosses throughout your adventure in Metaphor: ReFantazio. Some will be on the easier side, like the Treebeast Alento at the Dragon Temple. Before you can enter the temple, you need to make a "Potion of Blight" iconPotion of Blight. Do this and return to the temple to find out that the tree blocking your way is actually a monster, triggering the boss fight!

The tree blocking your way into the Dragon Temple is actually a monster!

All of Treebeast Alento’s Attacks

The Treebeast Alento is less of a major boss fight, and more of a mini-boss fight, since you will be finding them as normal enemies in the dungeon right after the Dragon Temple. It’s a pretty straightforward battle, though, with not too much trickery going on during it.

  • Soul Cry: The boss will use this at the very beginning, as its first move, to gain two Turn Icons.

  • "Rydinei" iconRydinei: The second move it will do is this, which grants the boss a regen effect. Its regen seems to be set at 400 on every single of its Turn Icons.

  • "Concentrate" iconConcentrate: This will be used as the third skill, and it raises the boss’ attack by three ranks for three turns.

  • Pollen Attack: Weak magical Almighty damage to all of your characters, and it also decreases their Hit/Evasion by one rank for three turns.

(1 of 4) The boss will always start its first turn with Soul Cry to gain two more Turn Icons.

  • "Gacyclone" iconGacyclone: Deals heavy magic Wind damage to all characters.

Treebeast Alento Boss Strategy

The Treebeast Alento isn’t a hard boss, but you still shouldn’t be complacent, as its damage can still be fairly decent on higher difficulties. It is weak to fire, so having access to "Botra" iconBotra and the "Commander" iconCommander’s "Fiery Strike" iconFiery Strike will make this fight a lot easier. In fact, Fiery Strike has a chance to inflict Burn, which the boss is susceptible to, so that piles on the damage even more. Note that this boss will resist damage from all other elements, so don’t even think about using them at all; it still takes full damage from the physical attributes.

If you have "Steal" iconSteal equipped on someone, use it against the Treebeast to get a "Floral Semaphore" iconFloral Semaphore weapon for the Commander classes. Now, you want to defeat the Treebeast as soon as possible, as it casts a regen on itself with Rydinei. This heals it for around 400 HP every single time it performs an action with a Turn Icon. It naturally gets two Turn Icons on Normal, so that means it will heal 800 HP, assuming it doesn’t get a crit or hit a weakness. It will also use Pollen Attack often enough and while the damage can be decent (thanks to Concentrate), the bigger problem comes from it lowering your Hit and Evasion.

(1 of 4) The Treebeast is weak to fire, which should be a pretty glaring weakness.

Should you have gotten "Dekunda" iconDekunda from the "Healer Archetype" iconHealer Archetype, then having that on someone will work to remove those debuffs. It’s not clear if the boss will use Soul Cry more than once, which might be possible if its buffs run out. However, you should hopefully be powerful enough to end the battle prior to that happening. If you can outdamage the healing, which you should at this point of the game, then you should be more than capable of winning this fight without any problems.

With the Treebeast Alento out of the way, you can now enter the proper portion of the Dragon Temple.
