You’ll come across many optional encounters in Blades of Fire, and The Three Kings are perhaps the most challenging of the lot. While you’ll be required to kill them in the later stages of the adventure, you can and will encounter them beforehand. King Beltharun is one such King who you can encounter as soon as the first chapter, so keep reading to learn how to deal with him and what other locations he spawns.

King Beltharun Locations¶
King Beltharun is the second of the Three Kings you’ll encounter, and much like King Ashkhanar, your first encounter will come during your time in Aecides’ Domain. Once you return to Kar-Lethel Swamp to deal with the golem, you’ll eventually find your way over to the Coastal Wall. As you follow this wall to the east chasing the Vexer, it will lead you to a path off the side when going down the stairs and King Beltharun will ambush you. Below, you can discover all three locations you can find King Beltharun in Blades of Fire:
-
Aecides’ Domain - Kar-Lethel Swamp: From the Coastal Wall anvil, go east along the wall and to the right as you go down the stairs at the end (Map Marker).
-
Tok’s Kingdom -
The Roggs Mountains: After returning
Dhyrias’ Hammer to the statue, you’ll gain access to the temple ahead, King Beltharun awaits in the narrow hallway (Map Marker).
-
The Niveous Realm -
The Royal Palace: Make your way to the east of the Tidespan Bridge anvil.
Once you have defeated all three, you’ll unlock the Forger Scroll for the Scimitar Saber.
King Beltharun Boss Strategy¶
Much like the other King battles, Beltharun is far more of a challenge than the other enemies you’re likely to find in Blades of Fire. Beltharun himself tends to avoid in areas where you don’t have much space to maneuver in, such as the first and second encounters. Additionally, his Saber does give him decent Reach considering it’s not a Polearm or Spear, so don’t take it for granted. A weapon with the ability to Parry well can be useful here too, as he uses his melee Saber Combo often when close up.
King Beltharun has plenty of attacks for you to be cautious of though, and you can learn about them below:
Saber Combo¶
King Beltharun’s most basic attack string is using his Saber to swing at you three-to-four times, this can be easily parried if you have a high enough stat in it, or you can dodge around to the back of him.

Fire Slash¶
King Beltharun will imbue his Saber with Fire and then do a sweeping slash that will deal heavy damage if it hits. Try to get some distance when you see the Saber is on fire.
Eruption¶
King Beltharun will cause liquid lava to come pouring out of him in a large area around him. This is arguably the toughest attack to avoid as he can use it quickly and there is often not many areas of his battlefields that is safe to stand in.
Fireballs¶
At any point when King Beltharun’s Saber is on fire, he can shoot out a series of Fireballs at you, this will be used at both close and mid-range too, so be aware of this at all times.
(1 of 2) The Eruption attack is the hardest one to avoid as you often won’t have anywhere to stand.

The battle against King Beltharun all comes down to how well you can deal with his Eruption attack, by far the largest issue when it comes to fighting him as nearly every encounter against him pits you in a very small spaced. His regular Saber Combos are easy enough to avoid or parry, but be aware that he may sneak in a thrust or two during it.
The Flame Slash can also be changed into a Flame Slam if you’re at mid-far range from him, this is arguably the best attack he can use that will leave him open and will keep you at a safe distance from Eruption if it happens. The Fireball attack won’t deal much damage, but it can be very tough to avoid as it will come at you quickly and can be mixed into pretty much any attack, so try to avoid fighting King Beltharun head on to limit his opportunities to use this attack.
