This page is a walkthrough for one of the new Officer Quests in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. These naval officers are excellent additions to the Jackdaw’s crew, granting unique abilities when battling at sea.

Like with the Lucy Baldwin’s questline, you can only recruit Abel “Padre” Galvão as your Master-at-Arms following the Sequence 4 mission ‘This Old Cove’. After unlocking Great Inagua as your hideout, Adéwalé will ask Edward to find a Shipwright and a Master-at-Arms, the latter of which can help give those pesky crew members a stern face to follow.

Page Breakdown

A Second Chance Walkthrough

Despite being one of the strongest and brutal Master-at-Arms, he now tends to a village as Padre, after turning to religion. You’ll need to head to Punta del Caracol, which is at the coordinates (918,340), to find him.

Dock the Jackdaw at the island and head up the path into the small village. You can use Eagle Sense or the observe feature to find the green marker. Abel can be found roasting some meat over a fire, enjoying the peace and quiet of this small locale.

A cutscene will play, in which Padre turns down Edward’s offer, instead asking you to tell some of the villagers that their food is ready. There are three people to speak with, and they can be found in the village, up the hill near a large tree, and the final one is at the beach. Return to Padre, and he’ll ask you to carry some meat up to someone else.

Padre joins the ship as the Master-at-Arms, keeping the rowdy pirating crew in check

After returning once again, Padre asks Edward for another request - rumours are circling that some of the late Du Casse’s men could be causing trouble soon, and you’ll need to head back to the Jackdaw to find them.

Loyalty, Discipline, and Courage Walkthrough

The next quest for Padre starts straightaway, if you want (and we recommend doing it). From Punta del Caracol, head towards Cumberland Bay to investigate Du Casse’s men, which can be found at coordinates (648,348). It’s a couple of cannon shots away, so it’s best to do it straight after completing the last quest.

Once you arrive, dock the Jackdaw and look for some guards around a campsite. You should see the orange glow of a fire as you approach. Head towards it and defeat all of the enemies, then enter the camp and investigate the note on the barrel. Turns out, you made a small mistake coming this way.

Get on the Jackdaw and go full sail towards Punta del Caracol again, finding Padre in the village that has now been ransacked, set alight, and with villagers killed. Padre swears vengeance for his homestead and offers to join the crew.

Once you get back on the Jackdaw, you’ll receive the new ability Ram Dash for your ship. This allows you to go full speed into enemies, much like many of the rival ships do to you - especially the Spanish fleets, they really like ramming into the Jackdaw.

You can further strengthen this ability with the Harbormaster at Great Inagua, giving it more damage. This is a cooldown-based skill, so make sure to time it right, as you’ll need to wait to use it again.

Kill groups of Du Casse’s men on the island,

then search for clues to find out who was behind the attacks on Padre’s flock.

If Thy Right Hand Offend Thee Walkthrough

This quest won’t be available until a bit later in the game, but keep an eye out and a quest marker for it will appear at Cape Bonavista, west of Havana. Sail over there, dock, swim to shore and use a shipwreck to reach high-ground in the interior where you’ll find six of Du Casse’s men milling about. Kill them by whatever means you see fit.

Once the six targets are dead, rendezvous with Padre deeper in the island and talk to him to learn that more foes await you in a cave nearby. Also, Padre’s been busy - his newfound faith certainly hasn’t dulled his aptitude for killing. At least, not in your absence. He’ll join you for the next hunt and is, frankly, of dubious utility at best. Kill another six of Du Casse’s men in the cave and search marked locations for clues as to who and where their new leader is - search a crate of firearms near a dwindling campfire, a note on a tree and some wine bottles on some crates.

All the evidence points one way, but Padre will indulge in some brutality to try to squeeze redundant intel out of an unlucky pirate, and when Edward restrains him it leads to an expected development: we need to kill this bishop who wronged Padre and his followers.

(1 of 3) Seek out intel near the docks, either by pulling info of notice boards, or snooping on conversations,

The Other Cheek Walkthrough

After you learn about the bishop’s malfeasance during the previous quest, the next one will start up immediately. Make your way to Kingston and meet up with Padre at the marker near the docks and he’ll explain the reason for your nocturnal mission. After he’s done, use DualSense-L2 to snoop for intel:

  • Find a post on a notice board inland a bit. There will be a small crowd nearby.
  • Find two civilians talking on the docks and when they split off, pickpocket the marked civilian.
  • Find another pair of civilians at the end of a pier and snoop on them.

When you get all this intel, return to Padre and reveal what you’ve learned.and follow Padre to the edge of the forest, at which point the bloody business ahead will be left solely to Edward.

Head towards your objective and kill four of the bishop’s minions, then pass through some dense foliage to find the bishop at his camp addressing around a half-dozen of his goons. It’s not necessary, but sneaking around behind your foes and assassinating the corrupt bishop from atop the crucifix is ripe with symbolism. Defeat the bishop’s goons and talk to the bishop - yes assassination is a prelude to conversation in this case - and watch the scene that follows.

After Padre is done not following Jesus’s teachings the quest will end and you’ll get the Small Goblet trinket.

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced is a remake of the 2013 game in the series, Black Flag, which was the fourth main entry. While the game retains the majority of the major plot points of the original, it offers some new content in the form of quests, reworked stealth and combat, and a lot more changes. Unlike recent entries that leaned toward the RPG side of things, Black Flag Resynced is still the same type of action-adventure as before. This guide contains the following content:
