After completing “This Old Cove”, find the quest “Cat Distribution System” on Great Inagua.
Starting Cat Distribution System¶
As with most content in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, you’ll have to progress the main questline a bit to get access to the new pets on offer in this remake. Specifically, you’ll need to complete the main quest This Old Cove, a turning point in the narrative as Edward will stop being quite as much of a vagabond when he secures his own hideout. Numerous side quests will appear at this point, including the local events Cat Distribution System and Monkey Business, along with a variety of other quests, activities and distractions like Art Lover and various Templar Hunts.
Look for a house near the tree line south of the docks,
and climb onto the roof to find Soot the Cat making a morbid display of its hunting prowess.
How to Find Soot the Cat¶
If you’re keen on recruiting a new feline friend to join your aboard The Jackdaw, good news! - you don’t have to look far to find one. On Great Inagua, just south of the docks, you should find a quest marker for Cat Distribution System. Follow the road south from the docks and look to the left of the road to find a rather small, unremarkable house. Climb onto the roof and you’ll find a cat lazing about up here, with an impressive collection of dead rodents to attest to its predatory prowess.
To obtain Soot the Cat, just approach this cat until you get a prompt to interact with it (for whatever reason the game was kind of fussy, so we had to approach from the cat’s side). Once you do, Edward will pick up the cat and show a surprising amount of affection towards it. The rats infesting The Jackdaw are about to have a bad time with Soot on the prowl! Just interact with this pet to add Soot the Cat to your inventory, where you can equip it to have it appear on The Jackdaw as you sail about!
