Anto Templar Hunt
Lucy Baldwin Shipwright questline
After unwittingly - or more like uncaringly - doxxing several Assassins in his pursuit of fortune, Edward finds himself shamed into attempting to right his wrongs by finding the exposed Assassins and putting himself at their service in an attempt to thwart the newfound advantage the Templars have over them. These redemptive quests - Templar Hunts - also have the added benefit of yielding Templar Keys when completed, and a little bit of greed goes a long way towards making morality more palatable to Edward. This page will cover Opia Apito’s Templar Hunt quests in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced!

How to Start Opia Apito’s Templar Hunt¶
Most Templar Hunt quests take place in big cities… big for the Caribbean in the 16th century, anyways… as the unveiled Assassin’s bureaus are typically more useful where there’s a population to recruit and hide among. Not so for Opia Apito’s questline, which will see you traveling to Cayman Sound, a small island along the southern end of the Castillo de Jagua region. We had to fight some Spanish Brigs off the coast, so be prepared for naval combat in some rather cramped conditions. Once you’ve smote the Spaniards, you can land (there’s no dock, so just get close to the island, dive into the sea, and swim to shore).
Opia Apito can be found along the northeastern edge of the island. Talk to her to start the first subquest in this questline.
Examine a scratched-up tree,
and a pool of blood.
The Taino Assassin¶
How can somebody be so dirty when they’re complete surrounded by water? Anywho, after confessing his crimes, Edward will be roped into hunting a white jaguar that’s preying on the locals - despite the attempts of the Spanish to cull the beast. Presumably crewmembers of the ships we sank off the shore of Cayman Sound. Oops.
Follow Opia and when she stops, use to scour the area for signs of the man-eater, including some marks on a tree and a pool of blood, after which follow Opia again until she suggests you split up. That’s video game speak for “now it’s time for you to do the quest by yourself”. Press
and scan the sand nearby to find tracks, then follow them while keeping your eye out for the red silhouette of the white jaguar.
This dentally deficient jaguar shouldn’t be too much trouble to put down, especially if you get the drop on it - let your pistols do the talking to start the fight out right, then just dodge and parry its attacks to create openings and finish it off. When it’s dead you’ll get a scene where Opia points out what she calls some “Templar Ships”, after which this subquest will end. You’ll get the Digested Map Piece, a Rabbit’s Foot trinket and a White Jaguar Pelt.
Snoop on some locals to hear about the “King of Fishermen”,
then track this piscine potentate around and pickpocket him.
Templar Ships¶
This might just be the single easiest subquest in any of the Templar Hunt quests. Travel to Grand Cayman - a fishing village on the eastern coast of a larger island east of Cayman Sound - and talk to Opia near the docks. After some chatter, Edward will break away to get some intel. Head north past a pair of marked individuals, hide in some bushes, and snoop in on their conversation to hear about some “King of Fisherman”. Once that’s done, search the small village for this King of Fishermen, then follow him until your objective updates, at which point keep following the King of Fishermen until he stops moving and pickpocket him. Easy-peasy.
Right-Hand Man¶
Meet up with Opia near the next quest marker, near the viewpoint along the western edge of Grand Cayman. Talk to her and Edward will end up following her to the house where one Vargas can be found, at which point you’ll stop following her and will need to take cover nearby - we used a conveniently placed pile of leaves to hide in. After Opia politely enquires at the door, Vargas will make a run for it and you’ll need to chase him to the docks.
Don’t worry about actually catching Vargas - his lead is too great and his destination too close. Just keep on his trail and eventually he’ll board a ship, which sails away. Board The Jackdaw nearby, take the wheel and pursue your target - a frigate which you need to subdue and board. How difficult this is depends on how much you’ve kept The Jackdaw upgraded, and the prevalence of any open-world shenanigans. Fire on Vargas’ ship until you can board it, after which you’ll need to hunt down and defeat Vargas on the deck - we picked him off with the swivel guns before boarding, but your mileage may vary.
After getting some intel from Vargas, you’ll get a bit of chatter and this subquest will end.
Defeat the Spanish ships guarding the beach of Pinos Isle.
The Trail of Lucia Marquez¶
If you didn’t realize that the naval encounter at the end of the previous subquest was a sign that The Jackdaw needed to be upgraded… well, it was. The final phase of this questline is at Pinos Isle to the north of Grand Cayman, and the beach is guarded by two Spanish ships - in our game it was a frigate and a man o’ war. You’re going to need to put these ships under the surface of the sea before you can draw The Jackdaw along the isle’s beach (there is no proper dock) and swim to shore.
Cut down some Spaniards alongside Opia,
then clear out a courtyard to draw out Lucia.
When you’re ready to start the quest properly, find Opia along the southern edge of the beach and talk to her. Time will advance till nightfall and you’ll have to sneak inland, dispatching some Spanish guards in tandem with Opia. It’s simpler than it sounds - just sneak up to and dispatch the marked Spaniards and Opia will follow through with hers.
Follow Opia and she’ll eventually lead you into some Mayan ruins, where you’ll need to draw out your target - Lucia Marquez - by killing some more of her guards. The seven in the courtyard below, to be exact. It doesn’t matter how you kill them - stealth, swords, shooting the explosive barrels scattered about - just that they die. Once they’re gone, Opia will grow emboldened and call Lucia out, causing several more guards to spawn.
Apparently “drawing out” Lucia just means sending her into hiding - use you assassin sight to find her,
chase her down, then kill her to complete the quest.
Defend Opia and once these last few Spaniards are dead, search for Lucia, who is wisely laying low nearby. Remember to use and
to snoop her out - we found her hiding to the east of the courtyard. Approach her and she’ll flee a short distance, her resolve stiffening somewhat when she finds a few guards to support her. Dispatch her however you can, then confirm the kill and talk to Opia to end this questline and get Lucia’s Templar Key.
