"The Special Operation Has Failed" |
October 1957. The special operation has failed. The Windscale infiltration seemed to have succeeded, but then there was a huge explosion. Now the British are walling off the area. We are trapped. Comrade Sergeant Kozlov found this cellar to hide in. We have requested extraction, but no response. Agravaine is on the outside. I am not sure they hear us. What the British have hidden here from the world is stupendous. And obscene. May God forgive them. I cannot. |

|
"The World Has Gone Mad" |
December 1957. Something is happening in the woods. Yesterday we saw the people in masks, talking nonsense as they built their camp. Today they saw us. Nichev is injured, or dead. The masked people dragged him away. Kozlov thinks we should find new shelter, farther from these maniacs. I think we should stay. The world above has gone mad and we are safer if we stay under cover. If our messages reached Agravaine, then they will send someone for us, I know it. Then we will soon be home again. We can still be heroes… |

"I Can Hear the Voice" |
An agent trapped in the zone mentions his comrade Kozlov leaving for Brinsop Manor in Skethermoor.
Description
February 1958. I can hear it now. The voice in the soil. It whispers to me through the cold nights of the English winter. Kozlov is gone. He pored over the map for weeks, talking about a manor house in the Skethermoor region, where we might find peace from the masked ones. And then he left. I stayed. I long for the homeland no more. I am the only one left. But we are not alone. We are everywhere, and the voice is everything. The voice is everything. I long for the voice [Under the letter is a map of Skethermoor with ‘Brinsop Manor’ circled multiple times]

"Infiltration Report" |
Infiltration operation began 03:30 on 20th October. Entered the “Interchange” via the previously identified route through the cave tunnels. Approached medical facility from the rear entrance. No guards. Single scientist on duty in lab: neutralised. Discovered research into unknown fungus. Experimental stimulants appear to be manufactured from this organism. Accidental triggering of containment alert on one of the vacuum chambers. Retreated to rail tunnel. Increased B.A.R.D. activity forced us to maintain concealment. After four hours in hiding, we felt a massive tremor from the direction of the main facility. Quarantine Protocols activated. We escaped back through the cave tunnels. Unable to confirm cause of quarantine or our level of involvement in its declaration. |

"I Must Find Another Way Out" |
Stranger, You gave me assistance and for that I am grateful. But from this evil place I have learned one thing: the only mind I can trust is my own. The radio will not pierce the interference field. I must find another way out. Do not try to follow. You will not see me again. Kozlov |

Orders From Agravaine |
Agravaine ordered a search for their fellow agents who were last heard from in Casterfell Woods (27.0E 90.6N).
Description
Comrades, this is Agravaine. The convoy is gone. I watched your helicopter go down south of here. If any of you survived and are reading this, I couldn’t wait, but I have left you some supplies. You should already have the key to access them. Your orders remain the same: find out what happened to our comrades that we’re trapped here five years ago. Their last signal before the blackout originated from Casterfell Woods, grid reference 27.0E 90.6N. The storm drain nearby should take you there. Good luck. "Captain Sims Doesn't Suspect a Thing" |

Description
Sisters and Brothers, I’m making headway in Wyndham. The Protocol imposes harsher restrictions by the day, and it wears the villagers down. But the worse they get, the more they are willing to listen. I tell them of the Purpose, of the Voice in the Soil. Some are wary, seeing how the Captain brands us as “corrupt” and “pagan”. But others are receptive. When I can, I’ll bring them to the woods to meet you. I hold the Purpose safe and secret. The heathen that is their Captain doesn’t suspect a thing. To him, I’m just a humble shopkeeper. Thank you for your guidance. I look forward to the day I can join you and hear the Voice for myself. Morris

"We Need to Get Windfall Out" |
Something called ‘Windfall’ was taken to a workshop bunker in Skethermoor hidden in the trees.
Description
We need to get Windfall out but moving through the blockade is too risky. Soldiers are shooting on sight. There’s a bunker nearby, an old workshop. The entrance is mostly hidden in the trees. We’ll head there, to hide out until this all blows over. I’m sorry, Graham. I know how important Windfall is. We’ll have to find another way.

"A Crate From the Windfall Shipment?" |
A Protocol soldier found a crate from a rumoured B.A.R.D. shipment called “Windfall”, but it needs a keycard to open it.
Description
Anyone remember who brought this crate in? I found it in the back of evidence storage covered in dust, looks like it hadn’t been touched in years. I think it’s from the Windfall shipment? There we’re rumours that the boffins tried to sneak out a shipment they called “Windfall” right when things turned bad, but that it never made it past the road blockade. Most of us thought it was a fairytale. Maybe this crate proves it’s real. What’s for certain though is I can’t find a way to open it. Must be a key somewhere, though finding that’ll be a needle in a Skethermoor-sized-haystack type of situation.

"They're Getting Me Out" |
Windfall’s Log - 21st October 1957 Doctor G told me today that they’re getting me out. I wanted to know why me, why not any of those with more life left to live. Windfall’s Log - 22nd October 1957 Soldiers are blocking the road. I suggest we turn around, but my escort doesn’t believe the soldiers will shoot. “Orders are to get Windfall out,” he says. I say I’m just a person, like everyone else we’re leaving behind, like all these villagers trying to drive away. “You’re more important than that,” he replies. “Windfall is more important than that.” |

"Windfall is All That's Left of Me" |
Windfall’s Log - December? It does funny things to you, this place. I’m hiding here because it seems like as good a hole as any. Tried to get into the safe room but it was locked. I’ve had a lot of time to think, and in that time I’ve realised that I don’t remember my name. No one ever used it, really, just calling me Windfall after that discovery of mine. It’s all that’s left of me. Who I was, isn’t any more. My work gave us a windfall, and now I am become it. I am become my purpose… |

Nora Tells Me Rumours of a Secret Shipment |
Nora mentioned a fabled shipment named “Windfall” that would’ve been stopped at the road blockade in Skethermoor.
Description
Nora told me about a secret shipment, codenamed “Windfall”. Rumour has it that the shipment was so valuable, B.A.R.D. tried to smuggle it out of the zone when the quarantine was being enacted, but they failed. She wasn’t sure that the shipment exists, since no one has found it since. But the scientists who tried to smuggle it would’ve been stopped at the road blockade before leaving Skethermoor. If there’s a trail to follow, it’d start there.

Description
The mad druids flooded through this sewer. Vicky says they went and destroyed a convoy from the outside, looted it for all its worth, batteries and all. Now boss wants us to go after them, says them atom batteries are good salvage. Wants us to sneak into their castle where the batteries go, grab as many as we can. Battery Supply Problems |
A note from a B.A.R.D. technician suggests that atomic batteries could be obtained from the back of robots.
Description
20th Nov 1956 Store Bravo is playing up again, Douglas. The thing guzzles energy like a hungry animal and the cables can’t cope. This is the third battery it has fried in as many months! I need more spares, but all of the batteries are going to Garrow’s robots now. Frankly, it’s ridiculous. It did cross my mind to find the nearest robot and yank the battery out of its back myself. Think about it, where else would they be going? Not to rescue us sorry lot. No one outside cares for owt but their precious science city. Someone overheard Protocol soldiers talking about an entrance to the Interchange at the foot of the concrete tower in their Skethermoor camp.
Description
Was hiding in some bushes to dodge a patrol (as one does) and got lucky for once. Didnt seem that way at first, mind you; the great oafs threw down their kit and awarded themselves a sly breather right by my hiding place. Of course, they started gossiping like old wives and one mentions something called The Interchange, the entrance to which is apparently in or near the foot of that concrete monstrosity of an outpost they use. It seems that their captain is very keen to get in, but they cant get past the door. Another mystery. May have to stay that way, too. That areas alive with soldiers. V. dangerous. |

"This Science City Better be Worth it" |
16th July 1947 Julia, I’ve about had it with these government types. Isn’t it enough that they bought my quarry from me? Must they come barging in to my offices, “requisitioning” paperwork before we’re even out the door? This place they’re building - this “Science City” - better be worth it. Most of it is underground and they need all the maps of the caves we have. God knows what they plan to do down there, and frankly, it can stay that way. All I ask is they treat my quarry with respect. This is hallowed ground. We owe our livelihoods to this earth, and it won’t end well for them if they mistreat it. Let me know when the sale is cleared and the funds are in our account. Roger Hobbs |

"Concrete Monstrosity" |
I found an anonymous note from someone who spotted an entrance to the Interchange in the Protocol camp in Skethermoor. It suggests a good route is to “hug the west side of the concrete tower”.
Description
Got closer to the Protocol camp than ever before, today. Enough to actually set eyes on what that big concrete monstrosity leads to. Something called the “Interchange”. I’ll draw a map. There’s a route safe as any I’ve found to get to it: hug the west side of the concrete tower as you go round and you’ll see the way inside. Beats me how you’d get past that gun though. |

"Configured for Quarantine" |
We’re enacting a full Quarantine Protocol. Oberons secret might be the end for this facility, but it wouldn’t do to have the blood of the whole country on our hands. Without an atomic battery in each data store, the sectors of the Interchange will seal themselves off. I’ve already tinkered with the data connections to the Central Processor, so without my device they’ll shut themselves off too. That way Oberon and the Windscale Plant will be locked away where no one needs disturb them again. The place is configured for quarantine. You simply need to pull the plug. The others wont like being locked in, but the protocol must be followed. It might be worth sealing yourself in, just in case. DG |

Heard voices from store alpha - impossible. Growth present in many corners. Not pleasant, but palatable. … I heard her. The voices chatter and murmur, but Helen’s was amongst them. Isn’t she dead? Isn’t everyone dead? But her voice was so loud. It spoke of the spot where we used to swim, our moonlit escapes. She wants to be free of the voices too.
