This is Joyce Tanner. Considering how things have gone since the convoy arrived, leaving this message is rather optimistic. But who knows? Perhaps there’s a B.A.R.D. technician still alive to snap their fingers and give me access to this radio tower…? [sigh] Wretched thing has no power, and there’s not much I can do from out here. Look, if anyone is listening to this, I’ve found a place to camp. I’ll include the co-ordinates along with this message.

Then Dr Langley went mad. She took the stimulant from me and ran into the tunnels. I don’t have the strength to follow. The glow is everywhere. The spores, the voices… the ones that are left died and now they walk the lab… my death is close at hand, and it doesn’t seem all that bad… death is a sort of life if we go to it together…

Sergeant Malloy. To answer your question, we are one bored Squadron Leader away from perdition. If those RAF dolts decide the quarantine is insecure and enact Operation Atomfall, the whole zone will burn. That’s why we have to get out as quickly as humanly possible and why we don’t tell the good people of Wyndham a single blessed thing about it. Now you have your answer, erase this recording immediately. That’s an order.

I freed the prisoner Dr Garrow, who Captain Sims sent me to speak to. The Protocol in the prison have turned against me, and I can no longer move freely through the prison and Protocol camp.

Fisher’s Log, 28th of September, ‘57. [coughs] I knew Doctor Holder was up to something. It’s no secret he’s been frustrated with the direction of our research, but this takes the biscuit. Last night Edward let slip about a secret lab Holder has set up in Wyndham Village. Under the church, apparently. [coughs] Of all places! For a month he’s been stealing samples, smuggling out lab equipment, and all with God as his witness. Worst of all, Edward knew because he was planning to join him. Holder’s got himself a little rogue scientist brigade! I managed to convince Edward to give me a key to the place. Once this fever is down, I’ll march over and confront Holder myself.

Dr Garrow: I can’t. …ave to think of the many… Dr Holder: Are you quite insa– Wait. Wait, I know why you’re doing this. Dr Garrow: I’m sor- …must go, Alan… -nterference is too… Dr Holder: I’m sorry. I lied to Dr Holder about Dr Garrow being dead. He found out and waited in the Interchange to confront me. Holder is now my enemy and will no longer help me escape.

Due to the sensitive materials being kept under quarantine, an employee keycard is required to enter the lower Medical labs without supervision. To request a new keycard, please get in contact with Dr Holder or a member of his team.

I returned to the Interchange after blowing up Oberon and found an audio log from Dr Holder. He was angry that I discarded his toxin, accusing me of only delaying the inevitable by blowing up the site. He will no longer help me escape.

Dr Holder wants me to tell him where Dr Garrow is now that I have freed her.

Dr Holder knows that I freed Dr Garrow from the Protocol prison. He has asked me to tell him where she has fled to so he can meet with her.

Dr Holder asked me where Dr Garrow was now, and insisted that he needs to see her before we can escape. I lied to him and told him Garrow was already dead. He appeared to believe me.

I hate being in the church at night. I hear noises all the time from that locked off cellar - things moving around, voices muttering. Vicar says it’s nonsense, that the place has been locked for years, but I know what I hear. It’s bloody haunted, I’m sure of it. I begged the sergeant to take me off the night shift up here, but he insists there’s nowhere better to keep an eye on the town. If I tell him there’s voices coming from the crypt he’d think I was corrupted, and then I’d be for it. This bloody zone’s enough to drive anyone mad.

I found a log in Medical. It mentioned a Dr Holder who created a secret lab in the weeks before the quarantine was enacted. The log suggests that his lab was hidden under the Church in Wyndham Village.

Dr Holder has asked me to go to Windscale and spread his poisoned sample over Oberon.

Dr Holder wants me to douse Oberon with the poisoned Sample One to kill the organism that grows from it. He told me I can reach Oberon from the Windscale plant, by powering up the Interchange. He warned me that once I have poisoned Oberon we’ll need to escape immediately, so I should make sure I’m ready before going there.

I gave Sample One to Dr Holder. He told me he needs a short amount of time to inject it with a toxin, so that it can be used to poison the organism. He will meet me in the Interchange when this is complete.

I agreed to help Dr Holder, who has a plan to destroy the organism that has infected the zone, and thus let us escape. He wants me to search the lower level of Medical in the Interchange for Sample One, the first sample of the organism. It should be in a sealed cannister.

I’ve been told that, while I can wander around Wyndham village with relative freedom, the Protocol camps and facilities in Skethermoor are off-limits to anyone without permission. If I trespass into Protocol territory they are likely to shoot on sight.

It’s a blessing that I’m free of the village, now that I think about it. Finally free of that bloody Protocol and all. So what if they didn’t want me there. Probably reckoned I’d be dead as a doornail before the sun set, but here I am. Wyndham Village can keep their Protocol. The air feels fresher up here anyhow.

December 1957. Something is happening in the woods. Yesterday we saw the people in masks, talking nonsense as they built their camp. Today they saw us. Nichev is injured, or dead. The masked people dragged him away. Kozlov thinks we should find new shelter, farther from these maniacs. I think we should stay. The world above has gone mad and we are safer if we stay under cover. If our messages reached Agravaine, then they will send someone for us, I know it. Then we will soon be home again. We can still be heroes…

Anyone remember who brought this crate in? I found it in the back of evidence storage covered in dust, looks like it hadn’t been touched in years. I think it’s from the Windfall shipment? Rumour has it that the shipment was so valuable, B.A.R.D. tried to smuggle it out of the zone when the quarantine was being enacted, but they failed. She wasn’t sure that the shipment exists, since no one has found it since. But the scientists who tried to smuggle it would’ve been stopped at the road blockade before leaving Skethermoor. I asked Molly if she had any more atomic batteries for sale. She told me she sold the only other one she had to the Vicar in the village, who was interested in it as a collector’s item.

The damn fool is messing around in the central processor. No word from the outside for two days and they all start acting like madmen! I don’t trust him and I don’t like him. We’ll be cut off from the other data stores if he has his way. Maybe you’ll have better luck talking him round? The only other route to those data stores is from the outside, through the quarantine doors. Who knows how many weeks they’ll keep those sealed for. They’ll evacuate us soon. We can’t afford to let this place go to the dogs in the meantime. C

Someone reported loud, drunken singing from the Wyndham substation last night. Must I remind you all that this entrance is supposed to be discreet? It was given its electrical facade for a reason. When you use it, at least try to blend in. You’re all engineers. Just look a couple of the switchers up and down as you walk past, and the villagers won’t bat an eyelid.

I found a letter in Datlow Hall that contains directions to the Interchange entrance in Casterfell Woods.

A man called Nat told me he’d only heard of a place called the Interchange in passing, but that it was likely part of the government research site buried underground. He pointed me towards someone who might know more: a trader called Molly, who usually camps out in the north of Slatten Dale.

Someone overheard Protocol soldiers talking about an entrance to the Interchange at the foot of the concrete tower in their Skethermoor camp.

Was hiding in some bushes to dodge a patrol (as one does) and got lucky for once. Didnt seem that way at first, mind you; the great oafs threw down their kit and awarded themselves a sly breather right by my hiding place. Of course, they started gossiping like old wives and one mentions something called The Interchange, the entrance to which is apparently in or near the foot of that concrete monstrosity of an outpost they use. It seems that their captain is very keen to get in, but they cant get past the door. Another mystery. May have to stay that way, too. That areas alive with soldiers. V. dangerous.

I met one of the old slate miners, who told me of a recent convoy that was sent into the zone. It was ambushed in Slatten Dale shortly after arriving, though I’m not sure who by. He suggested the convoy wreckage would be a good place to search for clues to the Interchange entrance in Slatten Dale.

Julia, I’ve about had it with these government types. Isn’t it enough that they bought my quarry from me? I found an anonymous note from someone who spotted an entrance to the Interchange in the Protocol camp in Skethermoor. It suggests a good route is to “hug the west side of the concrete tower”.

Got closer to the Protocol camp than ever before, today. Enough to actually set eyes on what that big concrete monstrosity leads to. Something called the “Interchange”. I’ll draw a map. There’s a route safe as any I’ve found to get to it: hug the west side of the concrete tower as you go round and you’ll see the way inside. Beats me how you’d get past that gun though.

There are junction boxes in the Central Processor that require a Signal Redirector device.

I’ve powe’red up some of the Data Stores in the Interchange, but their connections to the Central Processor are not quite complete. There are junction boxes in the floor that appear to require a special device, a Signal Redirector.

Nora told me that she’s heard of the Interchange, and knows where the Skethermoor entrance is. She said it’s in the Protocol camp to the south of Skethermoor, but that I’ll have a hard time getting past the soldiers.

I found a communications specialist who came in on a military convoy, Joyce Tanner. She mentioned a facility called the Interchange. She marked an entrance to it in southern Casterfell Woods.

We’re enacting a full Quarantine Protocol. Oberons secret might be the end for this facility, but it wouldn’t do to have the blood of the whole country on our hands. Without an atomic battery in each data store, the sectors of the Interchange will seal themselves off. I’ve already tinkered with the data connections to the Central Processor, so without my device they’ll shut themselves off too. That way Oberon and the Windscale Plant will be locked away where no one needs disturb them again. The place is configured for quarantine. You simply need to pull the plug. The others wont like being locked in, but the protocol must be followed. It might be worth sealing yourself in, just in case. DG

I spoke to Dr Garrow, who has been locked inside a prison cell by Protocol soldiers. She told me that she had a Signal Redirector device that was confiscated from her, and is probably being kept nearby.

I found an old recording in the Robotics facility, left by the engineer who made the Signal Redirector device. In it, they said they we’re taking the secrets of the device and burying them in the grounds of a manor house in Skethermoor.

An alcoholic scientist was investigated for openly discussing the Signal Redirector device while at Wyndham’s pub.

I’ve concluded my investigation into Dr W. Roberts’ conduct, kept discreet as requested. My findings are below. I have evidence that Dr Roberts has, on at least two occasions, discussed the workings of the signal redirector device whilst drinking at Wyndham’s public house. The man has a severe addiction, resulting in him all but selling our secrets for booze. I strongly recommend that Dr Roberts is transferred immediately.

I walked into a strange cloud, and started to hear voices in my head. If I walk too far into the cloud it will kill me, preventing me from getting past.

I encountered strange fungal spores, which injured me and caused some sort of infection. As it took hold, I began to hear voices in my head. The spores and their infection will weaken me until I can find some way of resisting the effects.

The Vicar told me that the Baker’s husband started hearing voices when he fell ill.

The Vicar mentioned that a few people in the village have started hearing voices. He told me that Philip, the Baker’s husband, heard voices shortly before he fell mysteriously ill.

The herbalist Mother Jago might have a tonic that can resist the effects of fungal spores.

I talked to Iris Baxter who works at the village bakery. Her husband fell foul of the fungal spore clouds, and is now severely ill. The only thing that’s helped him against the spores is a tonic, brewed by a herbalist called Mother Jago.

Billy thinks Mother Jago will know about a cure to hearing voices.

Billy talked about hearing voices, and I asked him if he knew of any sort of cure. He told me that my best bet would be to find Mother Jago, a herbalist in Casterfell Woods.

The scientist who locked the doors to Medical went to investigate the tunnels beneath the facility.

I found a recording of a scientist outside Medical. They we’re responsible for sealing the facility when the quarantine was enacted. After locking the doors, the scientist went down to the tunnels beneath the Medical facility to check on a possible breach. “…possible breach in the tunnels below the facility. Might be nothing, but I’m heading down to check…”

An old miner thinks the voices in his head are coming from the Interchange.

I met one of the old slate miners, still living in a cave in Slatten Dale. He told me he hears strange voices in his head. He believed that the voices have some link to whatever’s inside the Interchange.

The Fire Safety system douses Oberon with any cannister inserted into the dispenser.

Notice for Employees: To prepare the fire safety system, first insert a foam cannister into the dispenser. Then turn the two dispersal valves until they are locked in place. These are found on either side of the Oberon meteor. In case of an emergency, pull the Fire Safety System lever in the control room. This will douse the meteor with foam. Remember, Oberon is highly unstable. Only use the system in case of an emergency, and immediately evacuate.

I have been told that Oberon is hidden deep in the Interchange, through the Windscale plant. To open a pathway to the dig site, the Interchange must be fully powe’red up. Oberon is very unstable, and if I intend to tamper with it it could have huge consequences for the entire quarantine zone.

I used the Fire Safety System to douse Oberon with Growth Stimulant. The strange substance within Oberon is growing at an alarming rate. If I head back through the Windscale Plant, I can escape before the growth overtakes the site.

When I pulled the Sample Extractor lever, a loudspeaker informed me the equipment is offline and requires atomic power to operate.

Ellis, Before you initiate the self destruct sequence, the explosives need to be manually armed. We’ve planted four of them around the dig site - make sure all four are armed or the sequence won’t start. Once they’re armed, pull the lever and then get the hell out of there before the whole place explodes. Good luck. Blowing this damn thing up might be our only hope.
