How to Get the Sonic Resonator
How to Swim Faster - Wakemaker Location
You’ve finally constructed a Tadpole and want to go out to explore the vast waters, but it doesn’t take long before your ride is damaged. That’s where the Repair Tool comes in handy, as you can use it to restore your Tadpole back to brand-spanking new shape. However, you will need to find the pieces around the world in order to get the blueprint for it, then you also have to get the materials. Read on to find out where to find the scans for the Repair Tool, as well as the locations of the materials.
Repair Tool Blueprint Locations¶
Before you can even think about making the Repair Tool, you’ll have to first unlock the blueprint for it. You’ll need to scan three Repair Tools in the wild before you get the blueprint for yourself, so things can be a little difficult, especially due to how small the tool can be. The following are some locations that are easily accessible from the beginning of the game.
-
Inside the large ship wreck that is northeast of the Lifepod, about 375m or so. It will be in front of one of the doors that actually requires the Repair Tool to fix it. You can get inside the wreck by going underneath the ship and looking for the opening there, by some rocks. Note that you will be coming here for the Processor at some point, so it’s a good idea to search while you’re there.
-
From your Lifepod, if you go straight south from there, approximately 250m, you should find a piece of the Cicada wreckage (canteen). On the northern side of the wreckage is an opening, where you can go inside. Quickly make your way down to a living area and look on the couch next to the “Just Keep Swimming” poster, which is where you’ll find the scan for the Repair Tool.
-
Starting from the Lifepod again, head straight southeast and look for a giant stone pillar. There might be a few in the area, but the one you need has a hole around it that you can dive deeper down it. You’re looking for a hatch here, which will have a red light around it, allowing you to enter a spot without water (so, fresh air). This is the Colonist Bunker (Quaker’s Meetinghouse), and the Repair Tool will be right in front of you as you enter.
There are likely more instances of Repair Tools you can scan out there, but these are three easier ones that you should be able to get relatively early in your adventure.
Crafting the Repair Tool¶
Now that you have the tool available to craft, you’ll next need to gather the materials for it. The Wiring Kit and Basic Battery should be easy enough at this point, although you’ll need Silver for the former, along with a Copper Wire (two Copper). The Basic Battery needs two Copper and an Acidic Raion Pouch. For the Titanium Ingot, you’ll need the Processor, but the basic Titanium will be easy to gather, since it’s so abundant.
The hardest material to obtain will be the Sulfur, as it’s something that can only be found in the hotter area. In order to be able to withstand the hotter temperatures, you’ll first need to get the Heat Adaptation. This involves getting the Sonic Resonator and clearing the viral infection around the Angel Comb that’s about 205m northwest of the Lifepod. Once you have that, return to the Lifepod and go straight east to find the hotter section of the ocean. You’ll know you’re in the correct spot, as there will be a red arc on your screen, with a number by it, indicating the temperature.
Your best bet is to find the hotspots, where you see your temperature go up and might even get a heat warning. You’re looking for yellow-ish ore, so if you see any, quickly grab it and move away if you’re close to a hotspot. Once you have all of the ingredients, return to your Fabricator and make the Repair Tool.
- Copper x4
- Titanium x3
- Silver x1
- Sulfur x1
The primary use for the Repair Tool is to fix up your Tadpole vehicle.
However, there will be some other uses for the Repair Tool throughout your journey.
Repair Tool Uses¶
As already said, the primary use of the Repair Tool is to fix your Tadpole, should it become damaged. Additionally, there are the optional doors where you found the one Repair Tool scan, leading to some things you can grab from the small room. There will be some instances later on, too, that will require the Repair Tool.
