How to Get a Habitat Builder
How to Get the Repair Tool
There are some tools in Subnautica 2 that are required in order to progress your character and story. The Sonic Resonator is one such tool, as it delivers a concussive blast that can not only break apart the big ore nodes, but you will also need it to get some of the Adaptations. In fact, you cannot even get the Heat Adaptation without this tool. As with a lot of tools after the initial set, you will need to find some scans in the world first, before you’re able to get the blueprint. This page will detail where to find some of the scans, as well as help you with procuring the materials needed to craft the Sonic Resonator.
Sonic Resonator Blueprint Locations¶
The first thing you’ll need to do is scan any Sonic Resonator parts you will find while exploring. You’ll need two scans in order to unlock the blueprint, but there are a good number of them, so you can pick and choose which to go after. The best bet is the Old Habitat, as it has two there, so you won’t really have to travel anywhere else for the scans. The following are some of the locations where you can find a Sonic Resonator to scan for the blueprint:
- The Old Habitat is located about 400m north of the Lifepod and there is only one way inside, found no the northern side of the lower building. As soon as you enter the lower building from that entrance, turn right and the Resonator will be sitting on a shelf.
(1 of 3) The best place to scan for the Resonator is at the Old Habitat, with one on a shelf right inside where you enter.
-
After getting the one above, head into the next room and look on the floor, right next to some overturned table.
-
From the Lifepod, you want to go southwest (about 240 on the compass), until you get to the Spider Dome landmark. Underneath it is a hole, but there will be a table right next to that hole. Look inside one of the tipped over crates near that table to see the Sonic Resonator.
Crafting the Sonic Resonator¶
Once you finally have the blueprint for the Sonic Resonator, you can start gathering the materials for the tool. The Basic Battery (2x Copper and 1x Acidic Raion Pouch) should be easy enough at this point, and the Wiring Kit should be easy, too, since it requires a Silver and Copper Wire (latter is 2x Copper). The two problematic items are probably the 2x Titanium Ingots, and the x2 Lead. For the Titanium Ingots, you need the Processor. Put 3x Titanium into the Processor and wait 30 seconds to get one ingot.
The Lead is something you have to find and luckily, you might have already gotten some if you’ve been exploring. At the big wreckage outlined on the Processor page, there will be some Lead on the ground below it. Naturally, you can’t do anything about the big chunks, since those need the Sonic Resonator, but if you search around, you should be able to get some pieces you can pick up, or can break with the Multitool. Once you have gotten all of the necessary materials, go to the Fabricator in your base (not the Lifepod) and make the Sonic Resonator!
The Sonic Resonator’s main use is on these large ore nodes.
Charge it up, then get close to break the node and retrieve your materials.
Sonic Resonator Uses¶
The primary use for the Sonic Resonator is to mine the various large ore nodes that you’ve probably seen. Equip the tool, hold down the fire button to build up energy, then aim and let loose on the big ore node. Additionally, you’ll need the Sonic Resonator to be able to unlock some of the Adaptations, so it’s basically required at some point in order to progress.
