Back on Earth, silver was mostly used as a currency metal, but on the ocean-covered planet you find yourself stranded on in Subnautica 2, monkey-brained attractions to shininess has to take a backseat to utility. Silver is used to craft a variety of objects, including the Standard Air Tank, Wakemaker, Wiring Kit, Germanium, Hydroelectric Turbine, and since the Wiring Kit is a resourced used in even more recipes, you’ll end up needing Silver to advance past the basics in the tech tree. This page will cover how to find Silver in the first biome of Subnautica 2!

How to Find Silver¶
There are two problems when it comes to finding Silver: There’s not a lot of it particularly close to the Lifepod, and it at a glance looks fairly similar to Titanium, both of which are a greyish metal found in scattered deposits mostly on the sea floor. If you want to consider this a third problem, you also need Silver to create the Scanner Station, so you’ll need to find some Silver before you can use the facility that would make it easier for you to find Silver!
Find a cave under Camp One,
inside of which you’ll find numerous smaller deposits of silver.
Cave Near Camp One¶
Fortunately we’ve done the grunt work for you, so you can just benefit from our toil. The best place in the early game to find Silver is around Camp One, which is about 240 meters north, northeast of the Lifepod. At least, that’s a good place to start - if you search the ground outside of Camp One (be wary of the Marrowbreach swimming around here!) you’ll just find Titanium. All well and good, but one of the pitfalls we’re trying to avoid. Instead, you’ll want to head down some cliffs to the northeast of Camp One’s northernmost building (the room with the “Painted Tree” mural inside) - the cave entrance is just below this room. The entrance is marked by numerous plants with translucent teal fronds and a spherical purple core. Most of the Silver in this cave comes in small deposits, but what they lack in quality they make up for in quantity!
The cave where you’ll find the Colonist Bunker (Salvage) also has plenty of silver inside.
Colonist Bunker (Salvage) Cave¶
If you don’t mind making a longer trek through some caves, you can find a good haul of Silver in a cave to the west, southwest of the Angel Comb that’ll impart the [Digestion Augmentation], which in turn is around 150 meters north, northeast of the Lifepod. This is the same cave system where you can find the [Colonist Bunker (Salvage)], if you need more incentive to seek it out.
If you brave the outskirts of the geothermal vents biome (east of the Lifepod) you can find large silver deposits - usually in caves.
Geothermal Vents Outskirts¶
Finally, you can find a good bit of Silver around 200~ meters east of the Lifepod, on the outskirts of the hydrothermal vent biome. If you don’t have the [Heat Resistance Adaptation], you’d best keep your distance - the game will let you know the water temperate when it starts heating up. Most of the Silver deposits here are large and frequently found in caves, so be sure to bring a Sonic Resonator along with you if you want to gather this metal! Despite being near the geothermal vent biome, you shouldn’t need to get close enough to imperil yourself to harvest much of this Silver, just keep an eye on the temperature if you don’t have the aforementioned Adaptation.
