This page explains how to obtain and upgrade your fishing rod in Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising.
Grab a Fishing Rod from the Tool Shop.
Here, you need to quickly press X, Y, B, A and Y.
The fishing rod is used to catch fish at specific fishing spots. After casting the rod, press the displayed buttons from left to right before time runs out.
To obtain and upgrade your fishing rod, you must build/upgrade the Tool Shop, which is possible after completing the Profit Chasing quest (available from Main Quest 7).
As you upgrade the fishing rod, you can catch rarer fish.
